I overheard a conversation about my Sedan last night

I really appreciate you respecting another car guy (although of different genre) and sharing our side with him.

People's tastes change over time.....lots of us old sckool guys have had previous gearhead hobbies prior to "comin' home". (me...ATV's, trucks, late model dragcar...)

Too bad you couldn't take him for a ride...........probably would have been a blown Charger for sale on Ebay next day..........for sale or trade.

 

Part of the problem is some people like the term they don't necessarily view it as a rattletrap rod.. more a Ratfink vibe rod. Thus enters the contension. My buddy has a satin '40 with flames, that is for all intents and purposes a streetrod. Nice seats 350/350 M II suspension etc... it could get shiney with no major body work. It's clean straight and rust free, but he calls it a rat rod. I don't thik the term will die, but maybe the connotation is changing.

Just a thought.

My thoguhts exactly! That sedan is beautiful. I would be more than proud to be able to even drive it, much less own it!

Gracefully handled how you educated the nay saying knucklehead and stuck up for your fine example of a true hot rod that is HAMB, hot rod, and car-guy, friendly. Well done, and the Sedan is really a nice example of a hot rod.

It's got a red grill insert now but the original insert painted to match the wheels and original shell are coming out from under the bed where they have sat for almost thirteen years and will once again be re-united with the car. HRP

Look your a true " Hot Rodder " and why you would even bother having a discussion with a numb nuts like that is a misters to me. I see ass holes like that at most shows and wont give em the time of day. You don't have to get approval from those kind, because in the grand scheme of things they will never get it and who really gives a flying you know what anyway. I've seen you around at different shows and events and I've always considered you a real Hot Rodder. The next time I see you at a show Ill make it my buisness to introduce myself to you.
Don't let these ass holes ruin your day, hang tight and socialize with our kind, real Hot Rodders while always remembering that the rest of the population will never get it. It's a situation in life that we Hot Rodders will always have to bear. Be proud of your "Rod" and the hell with the rest of em. The next time your driving down life's highway with a grin on your face from ear to ear do you think that "Mr Banana Head" will be doing the same in that piece of crap that he thinks is cool, no way! You should have heard what some dipstick said about me. (and I was listenin'!)

Jerk said he had his car in my shop for the past 5 weeks, no progress. I asked him if "the guy's shop" was still in the same place, and he gave me the address!
I asked my nephew if he'd been "to the guy's shop", he said yes, he had...but didn't know all the cars in there.

Some of the 'heads' were standing there, looking at the guy, then at me.
Everyone was stifling laughter. We never let on.

But my nephew and I did take a close look thru the shop when we got back! We were right, no '34 Coupe. Whew! For awhile, I thought we were drunk!
Damndest thing I ever heard.

My mom dad brother and cousins have always called my 60's Chevy trucks crap and rusted out scrap but I just grin as I drive away.. Some just aren't made to understand something without a 400+$ a month note or a 90g bought resto'rod.. Great lookin ride btw my man!!

For some reason people think if its not super shiny its a RR and that's bullshit. Someone called my Galaxie a rat rod because its its in primer while I do body work.

 

Hearing someone talk negatively about your ride behind your back kinda burns. They don't know you or the story of your ride. Don't get too bent out of shape over someone else's ignorance.

When I was a kid I was charged with polishing mine up at car shows before the judges came around. I would usually just sit on a lawn chair behind the car when I was done. I can't tell you how much it sucked hearing folks pick my car appart. I guess that's what soured me on the whole trophy car show deal. There is no trophy for how much joy your car brings you or for how much pride you have in your own creation. All that really matters is how you feel about your car.

 

That's a pretty nice RR you got yourself there,....Will be real nice when you get it done.......LOL I can just picture it now, Some 18 inch boyd wheels, lime green with hot pink flames.....Then he might think it was cool.....LOL

 

If that is a POS I better just leave my car in the garage or part it out. Some prole will just never learn to keep their pie holes shut. You handled it in a stand up manner.

 

I walked by a supposedly numbers-matching Shelby GT350 that a bunch of people were "Oooing" over and I said. "Too bad the fender bolts aren't the correct anodizing" and walked away leaving the owner there speechless.
It was such fun!

It had either stainless or chrome fender bolts.
