Very well done, period perfect. This, from a Mopar guy that absolutely loathes all things Chevy. But workmanship and good taste and talent, that sir, you have done well with...
Always been a big Impala fan, & this confirms why. Great job! Love to see 'em done right, like this one is!
Were you at Bowling Green? I've got one I'm building almost like yours, but mine is a post-body. I've got the air-intake on the inside headlights(that's the way I remember them), and to make them functional I'm running a NASCAR battery, which leaves me plenty of room on that side. Dan and Josh Shaw will be doing the lettering/art work since we all live in the same town(and they're really GOOD). There's a couple of pics of my car in my albums. New updated ones are on the way of both the Chev and the Grumman. Your car looks great by the way.
Love your post car Buckeyeman. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures. Keep me updated on it. I live just north of Nashville.
66cayne, Although i did update rear gear from 3.08 to a 3.70 i still have it set up to just cruise. I have put a couple thousand miles on it as it sits. I do not have any plans to run it on the track this year.
That Impala kicks ass man! I,ve been thinking about lettering my Galaxie like an old A/S car and your car just added fuel to that fire.
I have a SOFT SPOT in my hot rod heart for the ' 63 Chevy..... my best friend had a brand new one with also with the 327/300 engine hooked to a 4 speed w/posi. Another special memory is being able to ride in a very unique '63 Biscayne. Of course, back then we had NO IDEA how special this car would become ..... not just special but historical. It was a BRAND NEW Z11 (427 W-block). Another hot rod buddy had a '62 SS Impala convertible w/a 409/4speed. They would always trade with each other for the rag top always worked better for date night at the local drive-in. Was a great "chick magnet" with the back seat that was so necessary back in those days..... ha!!!!!! The white wheels with the white paint job so awesome..... so let's go for a ride!!!!!!
Very nice car. My buddy had a 63 Impala that was originally raced out of Park Lane Motors in Sarnia, Ontario. It was dark blue with a lighter blue bench seat interior with a 327/250 (I think) motor that was built by Dynamic Engines in Detroit, it had a factory 4 speed. I believe the car was a Canadian record holder for F/s. The one thing I recall was a really neat set of headers that exited straight out through the wheel wells right over the top of the tire. As I recall they were almost perfectly straight into the collector, no idea who made them. Love that vintage of Chevrolet and you have done a really nice job with yours. Have fun with it.
I love your car.....Would it be possible for you to give me some large photos of the car before the Lettering? I's sure appreciate it....Thank you.....Centurion9
im in love!!!!!!!!!!!! my dad had a white 63 ss . to this day i still miss that carand my mom sold it in 1970. just a few months after my dad gave it to me.i was only 15 and had no license to drive but i was waiting for the day to come. came home from school and my car was gone. she sold it to pay for my sisters braces on her damn teeth. every time she would smile i could see my front bumper in her mouth! lol. you have a gem right there my friend. one beautiful car. you have hit the nail dead center!!!
I LOVE this car. Dont replace the 327, there were a lot more of them running than 409 cars. This is much more typical of actual local racecars at the time. However, if money allowed, I might go for a 2 4bbl set up and a solid camshaft. You can do this and still have a very streetable/reliable car. But I would keep the mouse motor and just drive the hell out of it! It looks spot on for a stock class car, and again it is soooo nice to see something acurate-not a faux gasser style build. Well done!
SHE'S A REAL BEAUTY!!!! I have a 1963 impala 2 door non ss that im thinking of giving the nastalgic 60's drag car touch.wish i had a 409 and aluminum front end
love your car man, same look I'm shooting for with my Catalina,I love the lettering and the stance.I'm still up in the air with lettering mine,I'm also can't make up my mind about wheels, was thinking about chrome reverse, but your body color wheels just grab you
