    The European Convention on Human Rights, 13th Protocol, does not allow the UK to carry out the death penalty at all for any offence, whether in peacetime or in war. The UK could only re-instate the penalty if it withdrew from the Council of Europe.

  7. Two re's;
    First, post #49217. This one is for the aircraft historians. Did anyone ever try updating the P40 with the hotter Rolls engine and a four blade prop like they did with the P51? I would think that would have made a good combination.
    Second, post #49250. Muddy Waters?

    There was a P40 that was built late in 44' that was a rival for contemporary fighters like the P51D, P47D, P38L. The only problem was that the P51-47-38-39etc were all operational and in mass production. Another piston engined fighter was just not required at that time, the world was on the precipice of jet technology and aircraft like the P-80 and Gloster Meteor had shown the viable aviation future.

    Curtiss did build three P40Q Warhawks, these were much modified from the standard P40 design (They were built from one P40N and two P40K's).
    They were installed with the Allison V1710-121 with a two stage supercharger producing 1,425hp and giving the 'Q' a top speed of 422mph @ 20,500ft.
    The fuselage was much modified having been cut down and a bubble type canopy added. The cooling system was extensively modified reducing the frontal area of the chin radiator by adding two smaller units faired into the wing leading edges between the landing gear.
    The nose was extended to fit in the larger supercharger and the wing tips were clipped to improve rate of roll.

    The second prototype was sold after the war and was used for air racing briefly. It raced in the 1947 Thompson Trophy race, reaching 4th place before being forced to retire with an onboard fire. The aircraft was an unauthorized entry so its performance was sadly not recorded.

    While this may not be totally vintage it is pretty cool.

    The Blastolene Deco Liner - a fusion of a 1955 White Motor Company model 3000 cab-over-engine trash truck and a 1973 GMC Motorhome.

    It was featured on Storage Wars last night.

    Bet not too many have seen a P-39 "Aircobra"! Mid engine with drive shaft running thru pilots legs to prop!
