That's "Mr. Voodoo" cool old C-1 drag racer from the sixties and seventies. I've seen it many times over the years. Good to see she's still alive.

That is my friend Butch's car. I took that picture off a video we shot at one of track rentals.

I have been racing that car and him for 44 years. He and I co-founded the "North Jersey Outlaws". A group of hot rodded, solid axle corvettes. About a year ago I built him a new top end for his 377 using my old school parts, including Huge ported 461 heads, TR1 tunnel ram and some cam upgrade.

We have only had it to the track once, last fall, where it ran almost a 1/2 second faster then ever before. He is back in the hospital again trying to recover from a second brain tumor operation. Get well soon Butch.

Jim hope Butch improves quickly. I am sure he would like to get back behind the wheel. I have been busy but find a bit of time here and there to work on the red car. Thought you may like seeing your old headers now that they are nice and shiny. The repair in the wheelwell is where I am adding a blister to acommodate the one pipe that is just a tad too close to the fiberglass. The other side I fabricated a removable panel/blister. Also now that the engine is in I am mocking up all of the front hardware and then have to move onto a trans mount etc. Now if I can only keep work from getting in the way of good times working on the car. Have not posted much on the car as it is almost embarrassing that I have done so little on the car.

Tell Butch to get better soon. Will say a prayer.

All of you guys posted some cool shots.

FI-62 like the stance and the wheels. I have thought of doing a car especially with those wheels.

Always a fan of Mr Voodoo as well. Glad that at least a few were saved as they ran back in the 60s-Jim

    My old "63 split-window".
I got this car from a young woman whose daddy bought it for her.
That was in about 1968 and I thought that I had gotten a pretty good price
at $1,400. It needed a muffler so I wasn't about to go large at
the $1,500 she was asking. I painted it Cadillac Firemist Cinnamon
and enjoyed it for about five years.
I sold it for a whopping $5,000 and felt like I had hit the lottery!

    Had I only known...

Jim D. the headers and engine look great. No coatings way back when I bought them. I would make some heat shields where the headers come close to the brake lines and line loc (and fuel lines if they also are tight). I had to install them on my black car and it made a huge difference. We all pray for Butch. Jim

Jim, I already have a heat shield planned for the line loc and brake lines. You may note one of the brake lines to the line loc is missing as I am rerouting that to avoid some of the heat.

The fuel lines are being run on the inside of the right frame rail and will add a heat shield up front if necessary. I have run into heat issues in the past with other cars and I guess have learned the hard way. I may run my coil (like the old school Mallory) over the right header as there is only so much room and will need a heat shield for that too.

Hard to beat the look of the headers though in my opinion. What did you do for mufflers? I figure I am going to run maybe a 12" or 14" with a turn out. I am quite sure the wife is not going to like the noise as much as I may. Thanks. Take care-Jim

Jim, I will send you a PM your questions, as that may be off topic. Here is another pix of the Green car and some of our other NJO cars at the first annual Pocono Drag reunion in 2009. Butch and I raced that track back in the late 60s and until it closed because of the big flood.

This is the 64 Fulie Thom Jamison and my dad Elwood Buster raced in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 1964. Sponsored by our speedometer shop. Thom the driver is on the left, Gil in the middle, my dad Elwood on the right.

Seeing this pix reminds me of this one of the Green 61. Sorry way too many pictures to remember them all.

1970 Etown with the wood bleachers. Final run D/Gas. Wow, how that track has changed
