This is my wife working on the F head engine in her O/T 51 Willys 4x4 a few years ago.She did a lot of the work and actually enjoyed it.Recently she spend hours on the angle grinder on our other old Jeep project. We have grand children that drive so it ain't just a girl's activity :D

Normal? Hell, it's normal for me. I've got a garageful and dink with 'em and drive the hell out of 'em. 10,000 miles behind the windshield of a topless, fenderless model a roadster? Don't mind if I do. Keep it up, chick!

9. My wife took a liking to them a few years ago and has gone on to help me with several projects, as well as keep hers on the road. Her daily driver is an all original 55 Oldsmobile.

Seriously to hell with the stereotypes. Do what you love.

Here ya go, Deb is a keeper as she helps me in many ways to get the projects done. She even took on old Schwinn Krate bikes to keep her busy.

Now that you've gotten this far in this thread, the answer is pretty clear, absolutely! Go for it, women are just as welcome in hot rodding/customizing/drag racing etc. as are guys, big difference from the 50s when I started, very glad to see the change...took both daughters to drags, cruises, etc as soon as they were old enough, now it's time for granddaughter!

15. I am not sure that you find a lady like the ones we have described. It just happens or it doesn't.

You actually don't find a lady at all, most of the time there is a lady and you chase her until she catches you. ;)

I should add to what has been said that my lady is all lady and if you checked most of those mentioned are probably the same as mine in that aspect.

It's just ducky that men are so welcoming of women into the hobby. I can just feel the political correctness oozing all over me.

I wonder if I were to visit the Cosmopolitan website, would the women-folk there tell me they don't know many men who spend all day accessorizing themselves but they think it would be great if more of us got breast implants and went hunting for a full time meal ticket?

20. If you think that I am politically correct you really need to get out more. You sound almost like you got yourself a Napolean complex. Tell me do you blush or grin when someone looks into your bathroom stall.

21. I just became super excited to see this thread. I am the Throttle Gal, and seeing these pics on the thread just made my day!!! for those of you who want a hot rod girlfriend, you have to understand we are a different breed. My husband and I fight sometimes because I simply cannot follow after the family cleaning up after them, provide all the cooking etc, while I am working on my projects in the barn. So you will not end up with a stereotypical home with a little housewife, and you will have to either share the man cave or give her her own. I have my own barn stall and basement area and milkhouse for my projects. I don't understand women who don't know what engine is in their daily driver. Or a gal who would rather wait 2 hours for AAA than just change the dang tire. Those that are with me: find by searching on Facebook! We have a fun group of folks on there! <3 (BTW Issue 6 will be out in Feb if any of y'all want to send some of those pics to me!

22. Didn't mention earlier my mom her sister and their mom built at mare island ship yard
No wonder I turned out like this

23. My mother with her big block chevy she helped pull, tear down, rebuild, install, and tune. She is a hot rodder, even if the car is a '70 SS

As I mentioned<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Deb loves her bikes to so this also helps to keep us busy.

Yet another internet psychoanalyst. Let's make a deal - you don't peek at me when I am going poo-poo and I'll do the same for you. If you must see my goods, I'll email you some photos privately for your own consumption.

Here's a challenge for you since you are on top of things. Name a single TV show produced in the last 25 years where the wife/mother was portrayed as stupid, bumbling, and generally the dumb-ass who must be kept on the straight and narrow by the smart and with-the-times husband/father. I'm asking you because I can't think of one - but I can think of plenty where the roles are reversed. If women want to be hot rodders that's fine with me - just let's not kiss their asses too much over it.

I'm just going to say it. Women who can fix their own stuff are Sexy! If you are a man who is intimidated by this then you missed a lesson. My wife is pretty darn good at diagnosing stuff and can fix whatever she breakes. Keeper for sure.
