1949 was the first year for this particular White 3000 series COE. They were manufactured unchanged into the early 60's.

I'm thinking thin the foam type double sided tape, like they use on house windows to hold the mouldings on, that might work. The problem is the tape width for house windows is narrow. I have two new rolls of the stuff and the widest is only 1".

  3. If that was directed to me, thank you Spankster.

Can anyone suggest where to find a builder's plate, some numbers or even other areas that I should take photos of?

Go to your local Auto Body supply store and ask for 3M Trim Tape. It is made specifically for this purpose for the OEM's. See it here:

23 skidoo, that was indeed directed to you. If you think those 3000 series White COE's are cool, you should see what the earlier late 30's- 48 model White COE's looked like. They were even more "COOL".

Do not use foam tape, your awesome emblems will be laying on the side of the road in a couple hundred miles. This is the stuff that is made for your application. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/3M_Automotive/OEMs/Product_Center/Products_By_Segment/Exterior/Badging/

well it's been a while since I have been on here but on the plus side my COE build has been coming along in leaps and bounds this year. The chassis is now 90% finished and panelbeating the body also almost done.
I finally loaded up a few more progress pics on my webshots page as well

I'm with uncle johnny I would like to see more pic's of how you did the rear air suspension.

  15. I built Tourliner's air system with a Dakota Digital controller, Slam Specialties bags and made up the rest of the system. You can see a picture of the rear bags here.

The front was the challenge because of the extra weight of the diesel and runs at about 160 psi. The tag axle bags are independant from the rest of the system so I can take the air off when in tight quarters. I think I run them at about 20psi and it makes things more stable. The drive axle runs about 70 psi. I made up my own header and soleniod****embly that is fed from two aluminum 5 gallon tanks and two compressors. I monitor each bags pressure and have height sensors so it always goes to the same ride height regardless of load. Rides like a Cadillac.

    Hi guys,

I designed the rear suspension myself making the trailing arms mount exactly where the original springs mounted and the top airbag mounts where the rear spring hangers were. I then went to a local truck parts supply place and found a torque arm on the shelf that was long enough for a panhard rod and made the mounts to suit.

I am still undecided what type of compressor to use. I have an airtank of about 20gal size to mount between the rear rails.

If anyone wants some closeup pics of how I built it just let me know as a picture is worth a thousand words

    Cheers

having never fitted an airbag system myself I'm still learning. Would love to see some closeup pics of your system. I'm thinking or running one compressor feeding a 20 gal tank then separate lines to each bag through individual solinoids so I can adjust the bags individually to get it all level.
Your self leveling system sounds great would appreciate some info on your setup as that should eliminate some trial and error for me.
I am only running airbags on the rear at this stage
    Cheers

  22. I don't have any pictures of my system as most of my stuff is hidden under the truck. Your 20 gal. tank is huge, which is O.K. and could be advantagious, but will take a long time to charge. You might think about putting a tire valve on that tank so you could charge with an shop compressor, and top up with your onboard compressor. Most systems use one 5 gal tank. You might want more than one compressor to do that job, so it charges faster and if one happens to fail while you are on the road. There are many choices of valves and compressors. I got alot of stuff online from a company called airassisted. Go there to see what is available. I'm running Viair compressors and Asco valves.

Loved your little video there Vet57air.

Kinda wished that you showed a bit more, like the engine compartment, and maybe even took us for a short ride down the road in 'er!

    Love your truck either way!!

  24. Sorry, they just wanted a 2 minute video as part of the submission. Hopefully they select it for the TV special and include more.

Is this the type of compressor you are using?

    Hey Russ,
Just curious, why did you paint your camper instead of leaving it polished?
Also what year is the****mins in your rig? Any issues with the wiring harness?
