Harrison....yeah that would be really hard!! Hell 999 would be tough..been a while since I saw a $150 body.

Curbspeed....crazy both of our cars are coming together at the same time....after both sat for a while.

Alchemy....I actually have the same wheel that is on the Morgan car...just different caps. I still have the Goodyear Airwheels I had on my RPU and 32 5 window. I took the wheels off when I sold them.

Problem is after searching for the past 5 years for a Goodyear tire bigger than 650x16....I found a pair of 750x17 Goodyears. Now I have to make a pair of 17 inch Airwheels. I need to find a 17x6 wheel with a fairly flat center.

Stole this from the Hot Rod cover thread, for frame horn/grille/hood thoughts. Bob

The article said Jack built 3 roadsters...Two are pictured here, wonder what the third one looked like. Also wonder what happened to them.

My Dad and I were talking about Goodyear tires the other day. We saw the new big Firestones from Coker and he said he ought to sell his NOS (at least 40 years old) Goodyear dirt trackers. I told him no, because if he did what would I use my ribbed Goodyear fronts with? It's cool you are taking the time to match stuff up like that on your car, as many guys wouldn't give a crap.

Check here for some 17" wheel parts: http://www.mrw-wheels.com/OFF ROAD/17 offroad wheels.html

Drod...that could be it! It has a little from each car. I would think it would be in between the other two cars. I sorta like it the best of the three. The hood and grill proportions are better than the first.

Redz...just tying up all the loose ends with the body....it's not a floppy jalopy anymore. Tomorrow some bracing and maybe start the roadster work on the cowl.

I like the 180c (or the third one) looks like the bottom of the grille was kicked forward a little bit. Just enough to mimic the back hood line and the front of the door line. The others had the grille to straight up and down. kinda throws off the flow a little. Cool project you got going though. I'm in and subscribed.

Hey Clark I didnt read it here but if you don't have a grill yet, there is a decent 37 truck grill on ebay for around 2 bills. Just sayin.

    Awesome..
    simply awesome..

I loved the red sport coupe you did.. but somehow I know that this car will have elements of the sport coupe and your RPU.. which will certainly prove to be a killer combo.

Well over the weekend I braced up the back of the body. I made a new set of braces in the trunk and incorperated a few extra bends so I can put sheetmetal panels in the trunk. Also made them so I could tie in some 1x2 tubing to brace the B pillar. Now the quarter doens pull out when you open the door.

Today I got a peice of round tube bent for the cowl section. It's just a brace and will help in forming the sheetmetal over it.

Also got some DOM welded into the cowl bracing. It will be a reciever for the windshield posts. They'll slide down in the DOM and be held on by a nut at the bottom. I wanted the windshield and posts easily removable.

Tomorrow I'll start on sheetmetal on the cowl. Along with the windshield posts. I need to know the windshield location to put the bump across the cowl for the windshield seal.

Skidmarks....my brace is actually a peice of DOM. Cut offs are cheap at the airplane suply place.

    Thanks Mcfly.

Yep. No way a piece of black pipe could hold a windshield in place

Looking forward to watching you build the dash and door tops. One of my favourite design details on '36 roadsters.

The tubing across the cowl idea should be your trade mark, It's one of the things that I noticed when Mike got the 31 RPU from you. IMHO that is what really turned that closed cab into a roadster. Not many get the shape of the cowl right when doing the coupster conversion, you did right as well as the door tops.
    Great work Clark!!!!
