Following day, another junkyard...visited i think 8 of em in 3 days...after a deep dive on this one i was quite disappointed...not much old stuff in here and the reason is that once a year the municipality s**** most of the stuff in the car corrals...and they restart again and again.
My wish was to really find something special and wanted but nope...not this time unfortunately

A slight guess is that you have never cranked much less driven a curve dash olds, they have plenty of power and get down the road very nicely. Next time you come across one, see if you can pull through a 95 cu.in. single with the compression release off.

As to your comment about the difference between the curve dash and the "french front" cars, they were made concurently, though i think the french front did not come out till '04.

The car was originally envisioned as a 2 person run about.

Correct on both points Fur..but some history is needed at this point. There was a very skilled man called mr Olveira in city of Cuernavaca, 1h south of me that made many replicas,or copies,or clones as you wish to call them of the curved dash Olds...not sure exactly how many he built em but as far i remember more than 100 or even more...he was building everything from scratch and using Briggs & Stratton small engines plus another brand wich i dont reckon right now....he did it for many years...fellow Hamb member Hcontla was his apprentice when a young kid so he can tell way more detailed stories....

So the chance to get an original 95ci engine i think is very scarce, you know...probably he started with an original one but who knows where could be these days? I've seen a number of these Olveira's replicas during the years and my tought is that somebody exported em to the States too in the 80s...thanks for the useful infos

We used to have real junkyards in Montana...now the old cars have been turned into steel used to make Chinese skys****ers...Sled's photos bring back memories of times gone by...

zarbtime..im aware of some of your empty spaces and cool junkyards up there in Montana, beautiful state in the summertime too..
Mind you,the s****ping commissioned by the chinese is happening here too...i could see daily since the short time im in Mexico (2006 aprox) the less amount of stuff and the leads i have of that certain junkyard being s****ped forever and steel sold to the chinese ,all the time....sad,really sad...

I think we are probably the last witnesses of such evolving society into full disposable plastic ****,wich i totally hate...that's why im doing what im doing, trying to live life my steel way with a more romantic vision of things...and im sure we are still many of us that love this way....

  20. Sled........thanks for the many posts and pictures you've done.
I enjoy looking at them. There is certainly some amazing stuff there.

Of course, I like this 46-48 Plymouth P15 coupe. Even has some
    goodies.....visor and skirts........Is there much
activity with old Mopars in Mexico? Are they very popular?

47Plym,the Mopar community here is very active but Mexico has always been a Ford and GM country...but Chrysler had a factory plant here since the late 30s i think..i met an old gentleman years ago wich worked in the factory and his daily driver was a 47 Chrysler Highlander coupe...the guy was flying on the road with that stocker...

also the 70s muscles are very popular and there are couple muscle Mopar clubs around...

I see often in private collections many 30/40s Mopars too...
