Digging through some old things that were packed away, I found an AMC window sticker from a car that my Dad had. I've just kept it because I am an AMC fan and that it was his. But also being a car guy, I know it might be beneficial to the owner of that car, if it still exists. Now... 1) Do I keep this, or actually try to re-unite this paperwork with the car? 2) Is there a way to take the V.I.N.. on the paperwork and see if the car still is in existence?
Of course you should keep it. How much room could it take up. As for finding the owner by way of the VIN...There are no legal ways to do this in your case.
It obviously doesn't take up any room at all and it is neat, but I could appreciate some guy who restored this car and would love to have that last bit of documentation. I don't know, mixed thoughts.
Got a friend in law enforcement? They could run the VIN and get the current owner info. If the car is still out there, you'll know in about 30 seconds. I have a 69 AMX - it wouldn't be for an AMX would it?
I would like to say regarding window stickers that window stickers are mainly stuck on the windows of the car or other vehicles etc. On the other hand they may also be used for different other purpses like for making advertisement and marketing and for fun purposes.
Keep it for two reasons one if he wanted it he should have asked if it still existed. 2 the build sheet is worth way more then the window sticker and it is probably still under the seat.
What kind of amc is it for, lets face it, not every make from the All Mighty Car company is a restorable piece! Then we will know if it is worth the effort in trying to find the original car.
I was recently visited by the daughter of the man that originally ordered my O/T Mopar, she brought me the window sticker and she put together a photo album of pics from the 30 years he owned the car, as well as videos of home movies the car was in.
I have the window sticker for a Hurst Super Stock AMX, the 13 digit vin is hard to trace..... a rare document to a rare car.... hoping to also put the two together again some day
I would contact this site about your window sticker : http://www.the-lost-car-registry.com/ There are some reunited car tales there just waiting to be read about. Cool Site!
Sadly most owners do not appreciate documentation. They see it as a novelty. I owned a TA Javelin, 1 of only 35 surviving. I sold it and supplied the buyer with a bunch of parts and papers... The next owner after him contacted me and never got anything. I also sold a BBO shadowmask Ram-Air AMX, same type of problem. It happened with a bunch of my cars. Even if you find the car, you never know if the paperwork will be safe. I say hold onto it, and if someone loves a car enough to track it's history... That's the right person to get the paperwork.
Thanks, I am a member... only information that comes up is what i put in.. thanks the search continues.....
