I'll ask him next time I see him.

I pulled the ****** last night and called the company I bought the clutch from this morning. They pulled another disc and confirmed it looked good so they are 2nd day airing it to me. I am gonna pull the trans apart tonight and clean it, hope to get it back together with the o-ring'd shafts tomorrow and have it all back in and running by the end of the week.

While I'm here I'm gonna put a dial indicator on my newly turned flywheel and make sure it is true.

  6. Could also be a bad throwout bearing or the fingers on the pressure plate aren't even.

GG, that's similar to the set-up I'll be running on the Touring. I've got a complete 30 A ch***is sitting in front of my garage, at the moment.

Chris, I hear you got to hang out with Squeak a little bit. Good guy. He said he really liked you all. He sent me some pictures you sent. Looks like a fun swap. I miss NW swaps. That's something that is really lacking here in Az. Keep up the good work the roadster is looking righteous.

Thanks Dale. Yeah, it was fun having "hot rod royalty" at my place :) It was a huge compliment that he told me " this is all your stuff? you must be doing something right"!! SUPER cool guy! Lots found at the swap meet too.

Welp, I got the transmission all cleaned and back together, waiting on my clutch disc that should be here today and a new trans mount that should be here Thursday. Hope to have it ready to dump back in Friday and get it back in and running over the weekend....and y'all keep your fingers crossed that the clutch chatter and leaks will be fixed :) Driving this ol pile to Seattle next weekend!!!

Very true. The Irony is going to be when I finally fix my brake problem and I get to go for a drive then all I hear is clutch chatter.

Yeah well thats just how it goes I guess. It would have been an easy swap-a-roo of a clutch for me, but the trans leak meant tearing it out, blowing it apart, cleaning everything and on and on.

Chris does your dads sedan have a tow bar? Does your roadster have a trailer hitch?

Your tellin me! I was just telling my dad I need a 40 sedan, after trying to pack all my **** in the coupe for a week end run. I think the 33 5w may have to stay in the wood shed for a bit if I can figure this out. Dennis is actually heading over to Spokane this week end i could have him haul the damn thing back! My head hurts!!!!!

Welp, disc never showed up today, gotta figure out where the hell it is tomorrow. Did get the trans ****oned up and sealed. I don't see how it can leak at all, but my luck it'll be puking all over the place :D I also swapped the tower with another, the one that was on it shifted kinnda weird...dunno know how to explain it but it just felt to "clicky". So hopefully this one will be more easy going.

I need to get on the HAMB more.. So behind with everyone on here. Hope the new clutch fixes everything.

Quick question: have you played around with the fenders on there yet? Like, just mock them in place to see what it looks like and stuff or are you going to just wait until you're ready to start prepping the roadster for paint to even touch those fenders?

I have not...I want to, but just have not taken the time to get them out of storage. Would be pretty easy to mock them on and I can borrow a set of running boards...

Just enjoy the car fenderless and don't bother mocking anything up on them. This is the way the car will look for the next few year so wait until the "high" wears off before revamping it or even looking towards that time. This car is perfect AS IS for now. Don't get yourself rushing to the next step when you should be enjoying it as it sits. Just my two cents.

I'm kind of sad that this thread is wrapping up. Happy for you Chris, but at the same time, it was pretty fun following along as this hot little roadster came together. Plus, it was inspiring to watch everything get worked through and solved.

    Start building something else! :D

I'm with you on this. Chris has had so many early Fords come and go. I'm wondering if this roadster, vert and pickup are the pinnacle.

Maybe his new thing will be hand-crafting crybaby dolls for car shows? :D

I bet the next thing on the list for Chris since he doesn't like 32's much is going to be cars with real history behind them. That is unless he wants to get into C1 Corvettes, but he makes fun of me because I like those so I only see historical cars next on the list.....or unless he gets into dare I say a family? Crazy I know.

Right now if I build anything I wanna build my bank account up :D I gave this car my all, and it has not been cheap but is well worth it. I wanted to get a top on this car before B-ville, but with the cost of the bows and having it done...I just cannot afford it right now.

In all seriousness, Down the road I do want to restore/chop my convertible, and also finish this roadster. I know I will own more cars, but in reality I have all I need right now. I do eventually want a full fendered, un-chopped (maybe chopped) 33-34 3W. If I die and that never happens, thats OK with me as I have owned the cars I have always wanted, but a 3W is still on the bucket list :D

    Why would I mess with a clunky ol 32 when I could have a 33-34 ;)
