Looks to me that the second bottle is farther forward next to the driver. Or am I seeing something red that is different. Are those bottles 5 or 10 each?

 

Curbspeed, many of us saw the front bottle first and were wondering. Then Tim pointed out the rear bottle. Simple error many of us were thinking about.

It's very cool to see fellas get together to get one of our own out there.

I'm really excited for this year. Usually I stick to myself and enjoy it as a fly on the wall. I meet some HAMBers and racers here-and-there but this year I'm going to meet a bunch of folks.

It's a very hard place to meet up with people you don't know. Everyone has sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats with drapes for their neck.
Everyone has either a camera or a tool in their hand and usually on the move.
So, without a central place and time, it's darn near impossible.
I met Magnus and his buddies from Sweden two years ago while in the elevator at the Nugget. When I noticed their accents, I asked where they were from and then saw the HAMB t-shirt. Bingo, I made some new friends that day...

 

It just occured to me we need to raise enough money for Buick59 to come out AND GET BACK. I don't think his son would like going to Wendover schools.

 

Yes Doug, thats why things like the BBQ and knowing what pits certain folks will be with. Even knowing many folks here and meeting others on the salt it is amazing how many folks I was standing next to in staging and did not know it......................of course Zor had his witness protection beard going so he was easy to miss!

Well, the truth is, we are still several hundred dollars short to make this happen.
This stuff, traveling, fuel, food, etc. is expensive, as we already know.
I know everyone has their own issues, and I have a pile of problems of my own, but we need to encourage some more help here with some moolah.
Who knows, maybe next year someone else will need help and we can step in again.
Mike, along with everyone else, is trying to make ends meet. He's a wonderful family man....like hundreds of others on the HAMB......so, maybe we can get the best photographer on the HAMB to meet us there...
I can't imagine "Speed Week" without Mike's photos....

If everyone plans to meet at the 416 Y-Block Guy pits I always like to get close to the gate so when you come in make a right at the "Honey Buckets" and come down the aisle closest to the long course. We should be not too far down .

That's assuming that everything is laid out like last year and I get in line early Thurs. morning.

 

Damn! I get excited just thinking about it. Three more weeks and I'll be sitting at "the Bend" thinking about Tech the next day.

You guys are great. You have made me change my opinion of people. I just got ripped off by a guy that was a "friend" he stole some expensive auto parts from me, have to take him to court next, and another guy I think is screwing me over on a deal. I told my wife I'm really thinking of walking away from the whole car scene thing. Tired of the dirty dealings I see going on.

Then you guys go and do something like this. I really had no idea that people could be this kind. Thanks. I really have had to reevaluate my opinions. I'll see ywall there.

And Doug, I think I have to poke my eyes out after that last photo!!!!!!!

Mike, you are an old HAMB pal. Been 10 years since you owed me a beer anyway! Please, camp with us, the mud will be less if it rains and you wont be a hillbilly!

 

I was planning on camping further up the hill. much quieter up there. I like to get up around 4:30am get ready for the beautiful sunrise, cause by 8am the light sucks and does not get good again till 6:30pm.

Here's my tent from last year, 3-inches deep in muddy silt!

 

Sadly... I'm not going to make it this year.

Too much to do, and not wanting to set dead-lines to get it all done.

Next year... we'll be there with bells on!

Don't know Mike, but I sure admire his photo skills. I can't make it, but I hope he and his son can meet up with you guys. $25 sent. Wish it were more.

Mike : Per your post above. There's a few bad apples out there. Thankfully the good ones out number them.

 

I'm thinking about going this year, for the first time. Is it worth it to bring a car that you are not going to run? Looks like it from the pics I'm seeing.
