    I am having trouble finding something so i now turn to the minds of the awesome people of the HAMB.

    I am looking for a steel hood (sides not needed) for a 30 Model A roadster body but a 32 Model a grille shell. Maybe a company already makes this? I will have to measure the length because i think the frame was extended 3 inches for the v8 to keep the firewall.

    So 30 body to a 32 grille...

    Help?

    Thanks!

  6. If you want a one piece hood I'd make it. I made mine out of .060 aluminum, first I made a cardboard template then cut the aluminum to fit the template. Leave about one inch extra on each side so you can bend a lip at the bottom edge of both sides. The lip is done last, after the hood is formed. I then rolled it over a piece of 5 inch PCV pipe. It took a little patience but turned out great, fits perfect and cost me about $ 60.00 total. Here are a few pics. I put two pieces of .080 steel under the ends of the PCV pipe and clamped it to my table saw. That allows the sheet you're working with to be slid under the PCV so you can slowly roll it. Measure where the radius needs to be for the cowl and for the grille shell and mark it with a sharpie Don't try to roll the radius all at once or it'll kink, you're just trying to roll it, not bend it. I made my trunk lid the same way, but that was way easier because it doesn't taper. I would guess you could do this with steel sheet also, the aluminum is pretty easy to roll though.
    And that's my mini tech for Wednesday. :D

    Call Brookeville, I just bought a 1 pc hood for my 30 Roadster build from them at the LARS. In fact Kenny also sold me their hood latch system to hold it in place and the way they build it you dont see how the hood is secured.

    The latch system is under neath the 1 pc hood. I mounts under the sides (R&L) then there are pins that extend to brackets mounted on the firewall and radiator.
    Simple clean and you can't see it unless you look under neath the hood.

    Here are the parts numbers;
    1 pc hood = 16610BTOP (it's listed as a 3 pc hood "Top only")
    1 pc hood top mounting kit = A16610AB53MT

    Seriously, just call Brookeville 937-833-4605 ask for Kenny, he and his crew are great people to deal with. I have bought parts for my 30 Pick Up from them, but was so impressed with there quality I bought a 30 Roadster from them.
