Or maybe the majority of people with 350's in Ford cars and trucks could explain to him how a longer, wider, and heavier engine with a giant distributor in the rear is EASIER to install than a small block ford

Henry Ford himself was an asshole of the highest order.

Much as I wish cars could be simpler these days, government regs won't allow it. :(

  3. That's not altogether true and sort of unfair. He was a family sized bag of contradictions.

If Henry Ford were to suddenly be alive today, he would promptly drop dead after seeing the price of Gas nowadays.

Lot of responses on what he wouldn't like. I'm not gonna argue...I'm sure that he'd have some thoughts to express...lol.

But I also imagine that he just couldn't help but to get a little kick outa the fact that so many are still screwin' around with his old cars, flathead V8s, and even the bangers.

I am sure he must have had some other radical ideas that for whatever reason could not be easily used in stock motor cars or machinery was not available.
After all when running a production line you need to keep it simple and reliable I guess.

I saw an article just the other day which listed Henry Ford in the top 10 all time wealthiest people.
I forget his ranking, at a guess it was about 7th.
In his hay day he was worth approximately $350 Billion when he died in I think 1946 or there abouts.

Not bad for a manufacturer, as most above him were bankers or exploiters of natural resources (oil/gold).

The list inclued Rothchild, Rockerfeller and Colonel Gidaffi of all folks.

I'd like to learn more about old Henry. What are some good biographies that I could look for?

Only one I have is "Henry Ford - My Life and Work"

The inscription inside the cover is dated 1925 so I suppose it only tells part of the story. It was an interesting read though.

it had it's place. hell how many street rods have pinto ifs in them:D:D:D

me I like them, but I grew up in a chocolate brown pinto wagon. swapping gears for my dad from the passenger seat (he had coffee in the shifter hand) and occasionally lap driving on the highway. no substitute for those pinto memories no matter how unsavory the car. always better than the chevette!
