the guy getting the trophy is really a ringer he's Floyds room mate!Floyd is standing to the right with his hand on the roll cage. The name was made up to hide the fact he was racing after his father told him not to or not be allowed to be part of a family owned business.I believe his real name is Bob Muravez.

I'd say real life, It's Burt's bike but the car with his trailer on is a Rambler (I think). In the movie he only had a Chevy.

Those are standard issue Mauser 98K's and that's the cleaning rod you see below the barrel. Ironically the Germans had sued the US for copyright infringement and won as the 1903 Springfield had "borrowed" heavily from the Mauser design. We were paying the Germans royalties on Springfield production during WW1 while shooting at them with it.

Please do, I may not have it 100% straight but i think that's pretty close. Been awhile since I read that and I just know bits and pieces. I have a Model of 1917 Winchester (Enfield Pattern 1914 built to US specs in .30-06), came across that factoid while researching mine. Unfortunately mine has been sporterized but it nicely done by a pro, probably in the 60's from the look of it.

Also found out that Remington had manufactured several thousand Mosin-Nagants for the Czar of Russia in 1917 but the revolution took place before they could deliver OR get paid. US Gov't bought them to bail out Remington, we briefly sent to troops into Russia in 1918, not sure why, ironically they were issued those Mosins. Some of the Remington Mosins also found their way to Japan somehow and have been found with Japanese Imperial Army markings in addition to the factory stampings.
