Looking great Nick! I am sure it was amazing to be able to drive it to work today! It is always fun to drive something cool to work especially when it is so new.

    Tom Holland helped again tonight.
We greased everything that has a zerk, set the timing, cleaned up some of the engine wiring, installed a working (temporary) water temp gauge (thanks, Gary; hot-rod roadster), and got the headlight mounts figured out and tacked in place.

Headlights are 'Speed Bullets' made by Kirk Brown; Crafty-B

    Thanks again, guys!

I've been driving it to work the last few days. Trying to get some miles on it before heading down to the KKOA Salina event tomorrow morning.

A couple small things need to be adjusted/fixed, but I think (hope!) it should make the trip.

Tonight I'll have help and we are going to get the windshield frame bolted down, cut some temporary plexiglas for the windshield, adjust the rear suspension up a bit, nut/bolt front and rear suspensions, and check/adjust the brakes. After putting a few miles on, the pedal seems a bit soft. Hopefully some adjustment (and maybe bleeding the brakes for the 3rd time?) will improve braking. I'm reminded how much hot drum brakes suck!

Jeff (hiboy32) helped finish up the headlight mounts last night and we wired them up. Took it for a late night drive and they seem to work pretty good! (have 55 watt halogen bulbs in them)

Brakes bled for the 3rd time? Sheeeeet, I'm on the 20th time on my '35. Finally got something to be proud of in terms of pedal feel on monday. But then I stripped the axle to I'll be needing to do it for the 21st time very soon. Poop.

    Good luck on the trip!

  22. Malcolm,
Are those gonna be the final headlights you run on it? I thought you were gonna use 28-29's?

Well, hopefully bleeding them again (and adjusting the shoes out) makes a difference, then!

Yeah, I was originally going to use '28/'29 headlights, but decided to go with these. They are a bit smaller scale-wise than I thought they'd be, but still look cool in person. I used the regular 'cup' mounts and can easily switch to different headlights if I decide to in the future.

Are those Lincoln brakes? SHouldn't they adjust themselves more or less?

They are F100 brakes and I added later self-adjusting parts to them. So, yes, they should adjust themselves (when braking in reverse). I'm going to pull the wheels/tires and drums tonight to check everything out.

  26. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Best wishes.

  27. Good luck on the trip. Your car is mean and sexy
