Needs some work (don't they all!) But for $500 out of my pocket I couldn't refuse!! 1928 REO Wolverine Original 6 cylinder engine (25hp rated) is still in car but been raped Not100% sure what direcion i want to take it but definetly not chopping it at this time. Definetly will be channeled but it may be put on a new frame. The frame is solid but not sure if it will handle a BBC. came with the original wood spoke wheels in awesome condition. All glass there (rear quarter glass cracked) Came with all 4 fenders (need work but not that bad) NO rust thru!! The rear inner wheel well has a bit but that's it! All doors open and latch perfectly. Actually when you close the door it sounds more solid than the 2012 Tahoe I drive! Here's a few pics!
That car has nice lines. What are the plans. As Hotridprimer said, it's rarer than rooster teeth and I wouldn't do any mods to the body that couldn't be changed back to stock.
A little information for you. HRP The Wolverine was a smaller, less powerful, ( and presumably ) lower-priced companion car to REO. The Wolverine rode a 114" wheelbase, had a 50 HP / 199 cid Continental 15-E six-cylinder engine, with Northeast Ignition, 28 x 5.25 tires and a 4.45 gear ratio. The Wolverine was introduced May 5, 1927 and "replaced" by the Flying Cloud "Mate" in December 1928. Wolverines also appear to have had two groups of horizontal hood louvres on each side. The "Mate" had unique hood louvres, consisting of of two tiers of short groups of vertical louvres, in a curve that swept downward towards the rear of the hood.
Very unique and very cool! Dont go too crazy on mods, get her driving with a reliable drivetrain and drive it/enjoy it!! Good for you. You scored a deal!!
You're from Jersey? And neat project, can't say i've even heard of a Wolverine before, hell its worth it for that badge alone.
Very cool and can't be too many of those left. Any history on the car and how you came to get it? Did you get the running boards?
The band REO Speedwagon took their name from the REO manufactured REO Speed Wagon light delivery truck, an ancestor of pickup trucks. :]' REO History. http://www.earlyamericanautomobiles.com/americanautomobiles10.htm
No Cutting it up here!! Body to nice to do that to it! No chop or anything like that. Plan on getting it much lower. How...not determined yet. All original glass...one rear quarter window is cracked, rest are mint!!! From CT..That's a rent a car while my wifes car getting repaired from a rear end collision. Figured I'd take advange of it!!! Never heard of one either...The long nose sold me!! Plenty of room for a BBC! Craigslist...listed as old twenties car fair condition $750 Couple phone calls later and 125 mile drive..DONE.. I had all I could do to control myself! Got all 4 fenders but running boards were not to be found There is NOTHING at all out there for these cars. As stated before, will not chop this up. Want to find a way to strengthen (most likely box) the frame. Will put a more modern stronger suspension to handle the power of a BB Chevy. Not sure If running fenders or not yet..depends on how low I can get it.
Few more pics of the car.... I cut off what was left of the sagging wood top structor...wasn't doing much anyway! I removed the interior last night as well as where all the field mice were living!!! Wanted to get it in the garage last night, but need to wash out the inside of the vehicle to remove some of that mouse urine smell first!!! (garage is attached to house!). I'll just flush in inside with some simple green or simular product, let it soak a bit and hose everything off. Then a day or two in the sun then she should be good to move inside to start stripping it down!
Been parked since 1964 in a barn type structor in the middle of no where! sooo maybe no one salted the roads in that area! LOL
