Here's a few Anglia's from Buffalo NY, Some running at Thompson Ohio and Other's at Empire Dragway in NY.
Well let's jump start this thread with some new photos. Can't be sure this an Anglia? "Heats On" The "Hollow-Weenie" anglia Owned by Farmington Bros. from Akron
What the "Son of Kong" in post #8 looked like originally after I got done with it. I ran this car at the original Irwindale (many, many laps), Orange County Raceway, Palmdale Raceway. Last I heard, it now resides in upstate New York. Mike
Yep,4-doors were Prefects. They had a different nose on them from the factory (like a small Pilot), but a lot of the race cars were retro-fited with Anglia (Popular) fibreglass fronts.
Still looking for this one! Last picture is as it was when sold(for sale) at NY National speedway. Was my friends Frank Cali, he died in 2008 and had told me it was in the northeast but never said exactly where. Pat
"Coney Island Ralph” built this mid-10 second, B Gas ’48 Anglia. Famed Long Island engine master Jack Merkel built the Hilborn-injected, small-block Chevy engines Ralph Landolfi’s famous chopped-top, ’48 Anglia B/Gasser on this October, 1968 issue’s cover. This Chevy powered Anglia was the replacement for Ralph’s first B/ G Anglia that was destroyed in a crash.
Very good Loudbang you go to the head of the class! I can add to that, the chopped Anglia belonged to my friend Pete Stager. After Ralph's accident (someone walked across the track in front of Ralph on the top end) Ralph bought the chopped Anglia from Pete and the "Babycakes" Willys that Pete had. After running the anglia he then sold it to Pfeiffer, the red anglia was what Ralph built for the nostalgia races in recent years (10 yrs or so ago) Sadly Ralph passed away end of last year. The chopped top Anglia is no longer around. The tribute car was sold by Ralph maybe 4 years ago, where-abouts unknown. Pat
This is what is great about the HAMB post up an old forgotten drag car and somebody on here pops up with "The rest of the story".
