  5. Those tires, and I suppose the wheels too, look pretty strange to me. It looks very "Cadillacish" too. Considering the timeframe, the name Cutlass probably hadn't been****igned to Olds yet. Just guessing, of course.

If you want the whole story on the little Studebaker Larkette posted by Yellerspirit go to http://www.jrcentral.com/studebakerlarkette.html the page of my website that covers the Promotional cars made by Master Enterprises of Eu Claire WI
They also made mini Jeep called a Beep and even a mini Mercedes.

I also decreased the size of the image that Yellerspirit linked to on my website so it would fit on the page.

The fin and 1/4 panel look almost '63 Cadillac but the "88" on the fin is definitely Oldsmobile.

This is one of the nicer looking Olds concepts of the era I think.

A lot of the Olds "future cars" were kind of awkward looking, I think.
Sort of like someone said "We have to make that different because it looks too much like the Buick or Pontiac." and they made it weird different.

I've been on top of that mountain behind the "Gold Pan." It is Baldy which is part of Philmont Scout Ranch. I was on a staff there and hree of us climbed it on a day off in 1970. It is not a terribly difficult climb, but it is high in elevation and about the time we got to the top, a thunderstorm came through.

A good day fishing. My mother wasn't too happy when my father cut holes and put glass in the side panels of that Chevy...she said it looked like a hearse. I loved those boots.....

My first car, bought by my aunt new. I quickly removed the Fordomatic and swapped in a 3 speed with Hurst shifter. In this pic @ 1963,I was visiting my folks at their campsite on Cape Cod, Mass.

  21. It occurs to me that perhaps some of us may worship the automobile just a little too much.
