Paint it the same as the car. That way if you decide to remove the side panels it will look correct and not cobbled together. This was my 38 plymouth that the new owner painted. See how it looks all one color...FYI his firewall is polished stainless.

Well then, do it up. It's not like you are doing something that can't be redone.

I can kinda picture it, and while it might not be tradtional :) .... it might be cool. you might need to darken the plum a bit, not sure if it will jump out too much.

Since you asked for opinions , I'd say HELL NO on the plum crazy under the hood . IMHO , it will end up looking like you repainted a plum crazy-colored car to a midnight blue & decided to "cheap out" and not do under the hood . I think if you want it a different color under the hood , and maybe painted it white under the hood , it would look more intentional and would look stunning against the dark blue exterior .

if you like it then rock it, i would go with maybe a lighter shade of purple with a midnight blue, not to light just enough to make it pop a little..

Purple or blue exterior with white under the hood might be cool.

To me, your idea is no different than a red car with an orange firewall or a green car with a yellow firewall. A little too creative in my opinion...

Very personal idea and if you like it, go for it. But be prepared for potential WTF questions and diminished resale value.

    You asked!

Well iam going to give ya my $.02 before the meds kick in .......I REALLY THINK IT WOULD STINK ,
Your car do what ya want & take the beatin like a man .....a MOPAR man.
    B.B.

  24. I think it would look great as long as the 2 colors are of similar hues. I would guess you give 2 ****s about resale value as you're doing it for you so that's a moot point. Maybe add a pinstripe, a blue racing stripe down the center or "frame" it in the outside blue to tie them together.

As far as the different colors looking like you "cheaped out." That makes no sense, just making it white would have the same effect.

I really do not understand people who seek to poll the 'Court of Public Opinion' seeking approval for their ideas. If 50.0001% says it's cool are you going to do it just because of that? And if 50.0001% say it's not cool are you not going to do it? How about doing your own thing or is perceived coolness more important than doing what you want? It really doesn't matter what other people think....

Asking a traditional bunch of Hot Rodder's about painting your firewall plum crazy is not going to get the opinions you are looking for.

If you like it do it,,but don't get your feelings hurt when you paint the firewall and ask hambers what they think!,,they will tell you exactly what they think ! HRP

what do you do with all the spare time you have created by not spelling out difficult words like "your" ?

  30. If it was you're instead oof your than it would make all the difference in the world. that is 2 extra pieces of text right there.

Maybe he is asking the question from his phone? ;)
