"So... When are you going to paint it?"... ARRGGG!!!

When are you gonna restore it?... or... When are you gonna paint it?...
Am I alone in getting this damn question?
Seems like I hear it at least once every few weeks from someone in a parking lot or gas station somewhere.
My real ***** is that I just recently painted my car flat black with a glossy red roof! It's not a factory restore job or a show car!... it is what it is. It's a daily driver. JEEZ!!!
Just blowing off some steam. I am surely not alone here... lol.

 

There's a long thread about it on here. I'm not even lucky enough to get that - people don't bother to look at my car.

A few of these threads have been done before, most are closed. Dont feel bad when it happens as these tend to cause drama.

Just ignore the folks that say those things, it's your ride and you are the only one who has to like it.

 

That's not as bad as "Are you going cut it all up"

l'm asked that on mine too, never gonna paint it as the memories of my son are in the ''look" it has now.

a friend of mine will tell people he can't afford paint, but if you want to make a donation toward the paint job, l'll gladly accept it.

Old news Geeze if it bothers you paint it and if it doesn't don't complain.

 

I am fairly certain that due to a lack of funds my 49 will end up being Rustoleum satin black.

should the day ever come when someone asks when I'm going to paint it, I'll just tell them this is all I can afford.

then I'll come here and cry like a little girl.

 

But I DID just repaint it!.. lol

Lately my standard reaction is to look confused and say "but... it is painted".

 

Do a search and read all about it......unstead of complaining

 

Unless you build the car or bike for another, the only one you have to please is yourself.

To preserve your cars patina, why not vinyl wrap it? That way, you aren't destroying its character, just appeasing the whingeing *******s...and you can take it off when they leave you in peace and no harm done.

I only got asked that once, but it was at a street rod show. He asked why my car wasn't painted. I pointed down the street at all the people on their hands and knees detailing their cars. I said, "You don't see me cleaning this car?". You could see the light come on in his eyes, then he said, "That's smart!".

If the car doesn't have paint, that's not a stupid question. You're just taking it that way. Just tell them what the story is. Hell, someone might offer a deal on a paint job, if you answered politely.
