adhesive question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Al Baker, Jul 31, 2012.

  1. Looking for advice on Identifying the correct/best adhesive for trunk/rubber weatherstripping - mine is coming loose and there appears to be globs of black adhesive which I will clean off first.
Thanks for any words of wisdom.

3M yellow is my preferred adhesive...put some on both parts, let it "dry" for a few minutes and then stick it together...holds very well...

Or windshield adhesive, clear stuff that won't come off anything (like your hands) and smells like bad chemicals. Bonds strong!

Permatex markets a small re-cappable tube of contact cement for cheap at your local parts store, or 3M weatherstripping adhesive.

I like 3M black and don't stretch the weatherstripping when installing. Clothspins work good to hold rubber in place until final drying.

3M black weatherstrip adhesive is the best, better than yellow 3M because the color doesn't rot your eyeballs, the same in staying power as the yellow so it is forever.
