your opinion, chop it a little more?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by model A hooligan, Aug 1, 2012.

  1. i did a 3 inch chop, but shall i go a little more? scrap metals chop is perfect on his car and ive been playing with the idea of doing a inch more.
the car now has a louvered hood, the window trim and body trim are now black and its a hair lower in the back, going with a louvered rear trunk soon too.if i do go more ill have to cut the snout of the box again and turn my column down,as well as lower my seat. as i sit pretty high and have a very high wheel in it now since i have long legs.

    3 more inches.

  5. I would leave it. The proportions are very nice. Sometimes less is more. In this case I think it looks perfect. Todd

  6. dreddy 3 is to much, and yes i know, you sir have a bad ass car.i have a pic of it on my phone lol.

  7. tugmaster, thats what im hearing from a lot of ppl localy, they like the chop it has now,and think its a lot of work to just take a bit more, since the bodywork is decent but not finished i was playing with the idea, it does look a bit more evil with the louvers and the trim now, also the rear is a tad lower, but still, doesnt hurt to make it a little more pissed. i think she sounds much meaner than she looks lol.

i guess its a traditional chop on it right now, and anything more is kind of lake/race car

if you don't plan on channelling and don't want to modify the frame leave it that way, if you lower the whole thing, 3 more inches on the chop!

A couple more inches would look good. depends on how much headroom you have to play with. Don't give up driveability for looks......

  11. harv nooo thats too mcuh i would be going 1 and a half more, hey tho your window looks cool in it it :)

ive got head room, but i have to lean down to see the stoplights now,my seat is on a folding thing so i can get to my battery thats under my floor.

i do not plan to channel it. it looks tall in these pics, i dunno why, its a little lower lookin in person, i have smaller front tires on it now too

  13. Really depends on the look your going for. I'd leave it, but I'm 6'5". Another 3" would look killer.

  14. this is her as she sits today, actualy a inch lower in the back after this pic

diff angles and the black trim and tires made it look lower,it has less rake now but its only 3 inch chop

  15. Naw I wouldn't chop it any more just lower the front a couple of inches.

  16. cant go lower in the front, its a 4 inch axle and reversed eye,has a 6 inch rear kickup,A spring with only 4 leaves and 2 were relief cut to take some tension out so it a hair lower out back.

Haha thanks. You're prolly right on the 1 inch.My car is impossible to see out of and I'm about as tall as Hobbit.

  19. It looks ok. If you chopped it more I wouldn't go more than 1 1/2 inches.

I'd sit in it and imagine everything being 1 1/2 inches lower. Still got headroom?

    Two more please.

  21. im 5'10, and sit upright at the moment due to my column,

i got a pic of your car at jesse's shop on my phone. freakin love that car,i was thinkin 1 or 1 and a half more, but its a lot of work just for that little bit, wich is okay im just undecided on it since id have to cut the column snout, lean it,longer column drop and cut my seat down. its not a real coupe, its a speacial that i made the roof for, thats whu its missing that belt line, and i just grafted a rear window frame in it,but to me the roof isnt right when looking from the back, it kinda looks like it has a big head haha

  22. with 1 and a half more out, i could still have head room, but my column will look stupid tall since the wheel is aready in the middle of the window, and i cant chop the column down more (already took some out) cause my legs hit the wheel when i brake,i changed to a 16 inch dished wheel to give more room, sits kinda high but at least my legs feel better.

  23. As someone said before, just don't want to sacrifice drivability for the look. Cuz driving it around is more fun than anything else you'll do with it! :)

  26. woa i had to look twice to realize what happend lol, its hard to judge tho how much that is on photoshop,

drjones, yes sir, thats what im kinda stuck on. is moving everything else to be able to fit me,it was a pain in the ass with the flat steering wheel to driving rubbing on my knee and having to drive with my leg sideways

Take a piece of cardboard, paper, whatever, and cut it what your thinking of chopping. Tape it to the windshield (this gives you the feeling of what it would be like driving with the roof that much lower. Also make a box out of same material, and tape it inside your car, this would give you the feeling inside the car, if you brought the roof down ex amount of inches.
