Really not to come off as cocky, but, I was born into this shit in 1973. Brought home in a Willies Pickup with a F.H. & a 3/4 race cam from Kaiser In Hollywood on Sunset to my house on 1010 Hellman Ave., Monterey Park, CA 91754 & if you where around, you knew.

And what I learned there . . . Drive your car already!!!!!! The 80's came & the cars sat while I was riding my bike. 34 pickups, 34 Sedan, 57 chevy, Model A pickup, 66 nova SS, 67 nova SS, 53 TD. And thats why I dont let my cars sit.

Well, hell, that's just uncalled for! Might give him a gental smack or two just to "rebalance" him a bit...My mom used to refer to it as "."lovingly applied pre emtive child abuse."

I don't begrudge anybody for driving what they want to drive, any more than I would let somebody else tell me what to drive (and trust me, in my nieghborhood some have). It takes a special kinda stoopid (that's right, two "o"s!)to commit to driving a hot rod or antique everyday. Not everybody can hack it. I have for many, many years. We seem to be cut from the same cloth in this deal having been hauled around in all sorts of cool stuff since I was a new born too. I have also "been there, done that".

By the way, I got to ride in your old "T" the other night. I DIDN'T duck and hide!

  13. Hey Bob, you hit the nail on the head, some people here complain about neighbors minding there own business then proceed to mind others. Funny isn't it.

My dad would let his cars sit but not me,after he died I sold all but one and I am driving it every chance I get. It still needs paint but having too much fun driving it so I will wait until I retire to paint it since it would take a couple years to go through the body.

There are hot rodders and then there are hot rodders.........some of us are just more serious about the hobby than others. It is the first thing we think about in the morning and the last thing we think about before going to sleep. (Sometimes we even have dreams about them :D)

Some guy just came up to my Son and was talking about my Son's T bucket. The guy said " I used to have a hot rod, but I got rid of it. You will find out that after a while you will outgrow it, believe me." My Son told him "I don't think so, I have a Capri drag car I'm building, plus a 30 Tudor and 46 Tudor to do after that. Plus, my Dad is 67 and is still building them, and so is my Brother. All the guy could say was, "Yeah, I guess you are serious about it then !"

I run into people all the time who "dabble" in the hobby but who rarely drive their cars. They only have one and are happy not to be building another one. Then there are those of us who are constantly looking for that next project.

Let's see, they are supposed to appreciate your approach to hotrodding, but it is ok if you don't like theirs????????????????

I drive my car every day. I have to, I don't own another car to drive right now. I sold my Camry, and the 'ol lady took over my Lincoln. I just started doing body work too, so I'm driving around with out an interior and soon to be a bunch of primer spots.

I the same sick fuck with a half a dozen builds going on, Don. Its the "Well, I dont know's", the "Im doing it all's", the "I dont got the money's", or the "I'm too buzy's"
    that bug me.

"Find out!" Donig it all, "You'll never feel its done". These cars are cheaper than new cars. They take a few minutes to fix & very user freindly/easy to fix. If their Camery broke today, they'd fix or have it fixed asap cause they have to drive it to work the next day.

Just make your old car your everyday car. Its just a car. Im driving an original 4-banger Model A everyday.

It's pretty hard to do for a lot of people that live in a state where I do where the weather is total shit 11 months out of the year. Thats the only real drawback to driving an old car every day.

I honestly dig Toyotas, not because they are cool or interesting or acceptable in any way but because they still build cars with quality and simplicity which equals reliability. Thats something that American car companies haven't done for at least 50 years.

Something like a modern turd is nothing but transportation, its not a CAR. A CAR is a Model A, A merc, a 57...something vintage and real.

I do have to admit that it was nice having something else to run to make parts and beer runs in while I was working on my '57...But I'm over it. I just have to go back to being careful not to take my car too much apart that I can't jump in and drive it in the morning. :D

Yeah, but all the cars that were driven in the salt by those people were gone 40 years ago.
