Yes ! This is the oldest one. I saw some Plymouths from the 50s .A 4 door 56 Cadillac like mine but a 4 door I took what I could off of it before they killed it. I work in the Recycling dept. but I see what cars come through the yard..

Look at the drivers side of the engine the pad just below the head above the genny will have the engine number. Post that when you get a chance. Is should be a P10 or P11 if its from that series, be a 201 about 6.4 to 1 compression. I believe 41 was the last year of the through the firewall, coil. That should have an armored cable that goes from the ign switch to the rear end of the coil (early anti theft deal) the front of the coil has the wire to the points.

Check to see if the shift linkage is rods or cables, and the front brake wheel cylinders are year specific stepped design, smalle piston on for the rear shoe...

The body built by Briggs (who alos built Packard bodies) were esentialy the same as the P 12 (42) and the P15 (46-early 49) fenders hoods trim, and details changed but the bodies are pretty much the same. the major difference being the 42 and newer had inside running boards.

Nice save Eddie. Is that some green paint still showing on the fenders? I had a GSA Fairlane once, and you could still make out the "for official use only" lettering on the front doors. Maybe yours is/was military like was suggested about the taillights? I'd have a hard time working in a s****yard, I'd wanna save everything!

Thanks .Yes the fenders were inside and the paint is green. I know about wanting to save them all I have only been working there 2 months and don't want to get on owners nerves so I must choose wisely ...

Isn't that a wartime blackout version? With no chrome and all painted trim? That would make it a '42 or later. Cool find and even cooler if that what it is. Might find a military tag on it, I think the only other folks eligible to get a new car during WWII were doctors.

    I think it is a 1942 "black-out model"

Look at the PIREEN fire extinguisher holder on the p***enger side front kick panel,

probably got military markings somewhere on it..

You might find some traces of military markings on it. Trying to remember where the tag or tags are. Seems to me there might be one in the glove box?

It is definitely a 41. the 3 ribs in the fenders are a dead give away although they will fit on 40's as well but the pic of the dash is definitely a 41, 40's have a different layout, also the 1 piece hood and the headlight bezels give it away as a 41. it is also a road king model, meaning it has no vent windows. i'd put money that on the firewall there should be a p11 stamped somewhere on the tag. i myself have a 40 plymouth coupe and (2) 41 coupes. i'm sure glad you saved it before it became a Mitsubishi fender!. good luck on it and if you have any questions feel free to give me a shout, i'd be happy to help

It'd be awesome if it's a staff car.

  22. 3 pages to argue what 30 seconds with a spotter's guide and a VIN check would confirm?

It's a '41. It may have been sold to the Army or something originally, accounting for the blackout trim.

The guy who brought it in has been bringing cars all week from peoples yards .He said he has another old Plymouth that has some "fire damage" that he would sell for 400 bucks.I'm going to have to go check that out too... Yeah I'm glad I saw this rolling in before they unloaded and smashed it too..

Taillights, no chrome, and the "convoy lights" on the front fenders all say military, as does the original paint showing through in spots. Good one to restore! They are getting awful scarce.

Well I found some tires to get her rolling but not enough lug bolts to spread out to front and rear....I got some bolts for the right side but having a hard time finding the left hand threaded bolts. I need at least one more to hold a rim on..

The frame looks solid. I think it will be well worth it in the end.
