Event Coverage Bonneville 2012 Roll call!

Hey....this is worth keeping tabs on...

A friend who's a science-guy just sent me this tip:

During the night of August 12 and 13, there will be a rare meteor shower event. There will be about 100 meteors each hour.
The meteor showers will continue but diminish through August 23.

For you guys camping at the "bend in the road"....you're probably going to be flat on your back after twelve beers anyways, so you might as well have something to watch.

Could be cool...

 

Note to self. Bring son's telescope. and aspirin.

 

Final testing of the naked Johnston-Carbone-Wendt XXO/VOT Indy roadster before its trip to Bonneville. As usual, waiting for the painter to finish up the bodywork.......

 

Won't make it this year but hope to get out there someday.

Well today is Sat. and after a lunch for the Bones boys at my shop on Monday we will be hauling ass for bonneville. So that is just 2 days away and I am so dam pumped up I am unsure if I will get any sleep untill I am in my roadster and flying down I-80 west behind the Bones circus.....

 

I think I have everones cell #s or at least their pits to gather goodies for the raffle/BBQ Friday night. We will all be busy so if you guys see Tim or I with his Unibody Thursday or Friday and can drop prizes off with us it would be appreciated! Trent

I decided to make a last minute unplanned road trip with my son. No plans, less money. Bonneville here we come. Unfortunately can't leave until Friday late morning so won't be there until Saturday afternoon.

 

I have a big open tub that we can throw the stuff into, wont last long anyway. 20# of ice, some beer, some water, some sodas.

 

the old lady and i will be there thursday or friday. have to head north first to pick up some bodies in South Dakota. look for me i will have the trailer loaded down with old tin, and we will be wearing some Cornfield Customs shirts.

 

After a bit of arm twisting from 38flattie, my son and I will head out Friday morning!

Any problems pitching a small tent with the FlatCAD crew?

 

If the flatCAD crew are pitching their tent at the Bend its no problem. If they are staying a hotel it might be a problem getting the OK to pitch a tent in the parking lot.

 

I'll bring an extra cooler or two.

I'll stop by the Bend in the Road BBQ spot Friday afternoon to see if you need anything. Can run to town to get extra food, supplies, etc.

Digging for raffle stuff this morning. 3 days.

 

i cant wait! Went to el mirage 2x in the last year. This will be my first time at Bonneville. Cant wait to see the salt and meet some awesome people with good insight in building a race car!

 

so, I assuming that there will be the two deals on friday night...the BBQ-campers shindig at The Bend" and the car show BS-athon at the Nugget.

Now....saturday...
I will be looking for Tim's pit as a location to try to find Trent, Mike (the best photographer on the HAMB) and Nick, aka "Malcolm" and the others.
I don't want to make the mistake of sitting next to a HAMBer for 30 minutes like I did last time and not knowing that I was sitting in the car next to a HAMB who's even on my HAMB "friends" list....BobK
I even toook a photo of him and didn't know who it was. (duh)



I'm leaving Sierra Madre, next to Pasadena wednesday morning and am spending two night in Caliente, Nevada so I can photograph "Cathedral Gorge". Then be arriving in Wendover early afternoon on friday.

So, I'll try to find some of you friday evening at the Nugget.
The driver's meeting is (I think) at 9AM saturday morning at the starting line.

Outside of that I'll be looking for Tim's pit...the Y-Block truck...
