I was in one of these when I was taking Driver's Ed. They had a movie on which you were scored on how you reacted to various traffic situations. I missed one. In the movie, I was driving a Fairlane. In the traffic, there was a Rambler on my left. They then showed a Rambler hubcap, then it's tire blew out. I put on my brake because it was ahead of me and I expected it to swerve into my lane. Of course, it was supposed to be my tire that blew and putting on the brake was the wrong move. Chapped my hide

Enid, my birthplace. I spent a number of week-ends at my grandparents house on West Randolph after they moved to town from Waukomis.

Those are the same driving simiulators we had in drivers ed. Look left, look right, Proceed. Ha! Then on a good day, we got to really drive a new Buick! Los Altos High School 1972

My aunt and uncle drove from CA to see us in MA. He loaned money to the longshoremen and had a new Cad every few years.

Then in '57, my aunt drove out from CA with my cousins for a visit. I was thrilled when she asked me if I wanted to go for a top down ride!

  24. Unless someone else knows otherwise, I'd guess they're hotdogs. A not-so-common term for hotdogs is/was "red hots" so I'd say 'charcoal hots' is probably hotdogs cooked over charcoal? Anyone else know for sure?

I don't know what a charcoal hot is either but I know what those cars are! Is that Z-28 a pace car version? Any guesses on location, might be a New York plate on the vette. Great photo!

Pat's was on Sheridan Drive in Kenmore NY (a Buffalo Suburb) That was our original cruise spot in this area. Now during the summer there are dozens of cruise nights all over.
A Charcoal hot is a hot dog cooked over charcoal.

There was a time when grilling hot dogs did not involve propane..........

    Pats is olong gone.........

Pat's Drive-in was a popular gathering place on Sheridan Drive at Parker Boulevard for many years. Pat's served the last of its special hot dogs in September, 1983, then the business moved to Phoenix, Arizona. The site is now occupied by a Walgreen's Pharmacy.

Seen "take offs" from the simulators for sale every once in a while. I think Frank Mitchel used to sell a lot of them for big $$.
