i just baught a rod with a 331 hemi and dragstar 8x2, only 4 are hooked up, i also had purchased last summer a Horne 4x2 intake in new condition, i know the horne is rare, but i haven't found much info on the dragstar intake, when they were made, going price ect, any info would be apreciated, i like more carbs, which would you run? i might only keep 1 of them.

the horne intake looks like it was never installed, no pitting in water jackets, still machining around the bolt hole and gasket surface, all i did is use a stainless wool pad to clean and put a coat of turttle wax on it to stop from oxidizing

I think that Horne is way cool! For both its rarity and less clutter over the dragstar. But i'm probably less flashy than you. The 8x2 will get the car better chances of being cover material but I like a little modesty in my aspiration.

You'd probably be better off with the Horne. Have read at high RPM gas actually sprays out of the carbs on the drag star. Don't know if you'd ever get to that level, wonder what RPM that starts happening?

i don't really intend to push these engines to high rpm's, it is more for the different and nostalgic look and feel, any info on the dragstar

According to my 65 Weiand catalog the Drag-Star gives maximum horsepower possible for drag or marine engines. You have the WC8 model and there was a WC6 available also for the Hemis. They cost $80 in 65. Also says they were designed for top end performance. There's about 17 different Drag-Star manifolds listed on the page for a variety of engines.

If you want a copy of the page PM me your email address and I'll scan and send it.

I might be interested. Please PM me with price. I come to Kentucky at least once a month, and depending on where you are I may be able to meet you to avoid the h***le of packing & shipping.

I bought a NOS 6x2 Offy a few years back from a fella that had Some 8x2 as well...(nos)
If memory serves me....the intakes were about 500-600 each.
I have heard that offy(on nailheads) don't perform very well....not sure on any stats on hemis.

I bought a blower and went that route instead.
I love the Horne 4x2.....much better than a Weiand 4x2....just a big open plenum......very nice intake.

i think i will stay with the 8x2, not sure what i will do with the horne intake, kind of expensive to put on my spare motor for display in corner of garage,

C'mon man...I love my Weiand 4X2...runs great:) I have an Offy 6X2 intake also. My plan was to run 4 carbs on the Offy (one on each corner) and build a really trick linkage system mounted on a bridge where the middle two carbs would have been mounted, but I decided I liked the look of the inline 4X2 better.

There both pretty neat and rare intakes, i think either would be good, but ive always had a soft spot for 4 carbs in a row.

Hemi rodder, your "Horne" intake looks more like a Cragar because it has the later style raised bolt bosses.

the intake has no name casting, supost to be inbetween when he was selling his brand company to Cragar, not many made.

I like the 4 carb. 8 looks cool but to me, running blocked off carbs just to have bling is like putting hemi valve covers on a 350 cheby. It's phoneyness.

Agreed.... I got **** for thinking about progressive linkage. By the way Tesla rules. He is the Einstein of his time whos theories have been supressed for decades.

Progressive linkage is the advantage of running the Cragar/Horne intake vs the Wieand. I'd do the Horne with progressive.
