Scored this from Burt21 on this site, to me it is crucial. It is hard to see from the pics, but it is ribbed on top and tapers back really nicely. I think it is good on the hood, because all I want is a subtle little accent (gonna cut the hood to make it functional as well), instead of some overbearing full-induction hood or something like that, but the wife thinks that it looks too small and that I should search for something wider (the hood scoop ya pervs). So I figured I'd open this one up to the board. Pics **** because the sun was crazy bright.
For me, I agree with your Wife, but if you like it that is all that counts. I am not sure any scoop would look right on that year Plymouth, to be honest. They weren't exactly performance cars so much. Don
Why does A 4 door Plymouth need a scoop ? I think Any scoop regardless of size it gonna look outa place on that car.
I looked at your pics before I read your post and thought it looked small. So I guess I agree with your wife. How about no scoop?
No scoop on that car, please. Although it looks better than the upside-down paint roller tray a kid (NOT ME) put on 62 Impala back in the seventies.
I would not do it. It looks too small and the location you have it at is not above the carb. They did put scoops at the back of the hood in the g***er days when the engine was set way back. Is that a 4 door?
step away from the car, put down the scoop, lock up your toolbox and go take a downer. There are some things that should be reconsidered - your scoop is not one of those things. Some things should be dismissed entirely, and THAT is where your scoop fits in. Screwing, bolting, gluing and welding nonfunctional items onto a car in an attempt to garner admiration from unknowing dimbulbs is not the way to go through life....fat dumb and happy is how one should go through life but that's not under discussion here. Forget the scoop, unless it's a Chocolate Mocha for your wife at Baskin-Robbins.
Wow you guys should really tell him how you feel! It your car if you like it rock it out, if not then don't! I'ts not for me but its not my car!
the replies here are the reason why you shouldnt ask for opinions from strangers especailly those who dont have to drive YOUR car or see YOUR car everyday its YOUR car do what you like do you thinkl any big time famouse car builders EVER asked anybody what they thought
Ha ha, that's why this post is even on here. As much as I hate to admit it, she is usually not far off the mark, where as I am definitely prone to some impulsive action. Thanks for weighing in guys, good or bad, I'm still on the fence so I am going to take some more time to really reflect on it. I really dig this look (although I think this scoop is too large and dominates the whole car), but this is a 2-door Chevy, and mine is a 4-door, so it may be that I am trying to jam a square peg in a round hole.
Scoops belong on race cars or cars that go fast. Do you race it? Does it go fast? Is the hood too low to clear the carbs or blower? Adding fake **** to a nice car makes it look like ***.
Do it, please. I'd LOOOOVE to see that at a cruise night, it would give me something to "talk" about with my other car buddies... Besides, its your car, dont listen to these guys, have "fun", knock yerself out, build it your way...
The man asked for opinions so....In my humble opinion it looks like a pimple on a fat man's ***. Sorry, you asked.
Opinion? Hey, I just happen to have a few of those. My opinion is leave it off. My 56 had one like that on the hood when I bought it. I promptly took it off and gave it away because in my opinion, it did not look right on an old car hood.
Hold it up to the grill and compare. It doesn't fit the style of the car. The car is round and flowing while the scoop has hard strait lines cut in it. I'd say no.
