Hmmmm! Looks like a couple on their way to the premier of World War I.

 

THANKS, Peter, Ron & Bodge! I always took my Mom's account at face value. This is the first time I ever thought to track down pix taken that day, and it's obviously a command car, not a Jeep. Also, from Peter and Bodge Deep's comments, it sounds as though beneath the cool exterior beat the heart of a Power Wagon.

Top photo looks very much like one of the main streets of Ryde on the Isle of Wight, an island off the south coast of England, and taken looking over the Solent water towards the mainland. Nice shot of a '30s Austin Seven grinding its way up the hill.
