The box probably was made in USA. The best way to date a Stewart Warner is to take her Daddy some 12 year old Scotch. :)

    Ask her about herself
Let her do most of the talking
Tell her she has a pretty face

I always tell her she has a pretty mouth.

  9. I have a SW 160 mph speedo with the numbers;...550BPY8 on the housing. Can anyone determine the dating from this series of numbers/letters? I think it's from the mid 70s, but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry to hijack the OPs question, but I suppose it could clarify things for others with questions...Thanks, Don.

  10. The box probably was made in USA. Real old trick.

The upside is that the gauge is probably at least 10 years old if it is made in Tiawan. Once you get it in the dash if it looks correct no one will know the difference.

All that said it looks like someone was "dateing" you. Sorry man.

  11. I always say they have captivating eyes, but I make sure to check out the rack first.

  12. Actually I am usually more interested in the other end. But if they are lactating I always ask if I have to bring my own graham crackers.

  14. .....Thanks. I'm thinking it must be 1979 considering where it came from.:)

I have a non functioning speedo 530YH9 with 527 miles showing. All white needle and a hole for a light. Which letter is the one for the code? They were always so cheap that I never gave it much thought. I don't think that it's very collectable but I can't just shit can it either. If they broke we just got another one. I doubt that it is worth having it repaired. I've seen these codes before but which one do I use?

I'd say it's the H9. The date is usually a space away from the other part number codes, but sometimes not. And some guys will always see the 6V and think their gauge is a June 1952.

I don't want to date anyone named Stewart Warner. I don't swing that way.
