First of all this is the 31 Chevy p/u I've been building for the last almost 3 years.Replaced all the wood with steel,I work in a metal fab place so not too much of a big deal but still a pain in the ass.Chopped the top 5" channed it about 5".Tried to do everything myself but the upholstery, next time the paint gets hired haha. Ok, now why the question,I've had this truck called a rat rod three times. This is almost too nice to be a rat rod. (Caught me off guard, corrected him) Nice rat rod (from street rodder)Was'nt in the shop, wife corrected him) Oh, was that you in the rat rod?(Dumbass, told he needed to be educated) Next time who knows if I will be so calm! What do you think?
Shiny paint,...check! Chopped and channeled,....Check! Nice stance,....Check! I would call it a *Hot Rod*....maybe small hub caps would help the finished *look*..... Looks like it's well built and likely a safe truck to drive.......not qualities of ,er those kind of things we don't like around here!! CB
Rat Rod is becoming what the general public calls hot rods. Yours is not ratty. It's a very traditional looking rod that's finished the way most were in the "old days" instead of the showy expensive finishes so many have today. I like it.
No driveshaft exposed in the cab? Has a floorboard? Fenders removed to make it lighter (therefore faster). It's a HOT ROD!
Snazzy. You rubbed every piece. Best kind of hot rod. Don't let stupidity get to you. When you let em piss you off they've won.
Whether it's a straight 4,6, 8 or V-8 it's a nice lookin hotrod. This ratrod crap is getting out of hand. I know people with rat rods and have seen plenty of them. I love almost anything on wheels, two or more, but a rat rod is a project that needs finished. I'll admit,a well built safe rat rod might be a fun driver. But when I look at most of them I think the same thing as when I see phony patena----why? Enjoy your hot rod and don't worry what others think.
Most people don't get it. But you do and so does your wife. So should you care if they don't? Nice truck by the way.
It's more hot rod than anything else.. Don't worry, everyone over here thinks the same thing. I just ignore them unless they try telling me I'm wrong for thinking differently. They think their IROC Camaro is a hot rod.
Hot Rod for sure.. Doc Watson's response reminds me of John Lennon's response to a question when the beatles first came to America... Interviewer: "What do you call that haircut of yours?" Lennon: "Fred"
I'd call it a nice hotrod. But there are a lot of folks who use the in-vogue (seemingly...) r-word just because. I had a guy call a Deuce roadster that name - had to gently correct him so the owner wouldn't react
