Did anyone get pictures of the radial engine chevy p/u at the swap meet? My camera had some serious malfunction and I wasn't able to take any but would like to put some on my computer. Thanks
Very cool looking, I checked it out. How are they going to cool it? and the biggie how do you hook it up to a gear box. A belt drive back to a gearbox unit behind the cab? All that said neat to look at!
I stopped by this guys shop Thursday while we were killing time to go to the kickoff. Really nice guy and the sheetmetal work on this was pretty good...his idea for cooling this thing is 7 turbos but instead of blowing into the engine he's gonna use the "cold" side to blow air over the cylinders??? Will it work?? I dunno... As for driving this thing he said something about a ring and pinion runing a shaft under the cab, then the accesories will be under the bed and some kind of trans after that... classic 15 pounds of stuff in a 3 pound sack! I guess I cant whine about space in my blown, injected, Hemi Model A pickup anymore!
Agree, it was the most interesting display vehicle there. Wild beyond imagination; it makes the Allison V12 Mustang a friend built look easy. Anything can be made to work, given enough time and money, but if you told me I had to make that one a reacher, just shoot me now. Wonder if he's considered turbos don't move any air at idle? The plumbing involved in mounting seven turbos, bringing down seven cold air intakes and seven difusers blowing onto the cylinder heads as seven exhaust pipes work their way down and back just boggles the mind. Not to mention, all that plumbing would be on top of the engine, hiding the bling. That doesn't even take into account the prop hub was within inches of the pavement. Engineering the 90-degree box, the tranny mount and the remote accessory drives which have to be in front of whatever transmission, so they rotate when the truck is at rest is going to be challenging to say the least. As interesting as it is to look at, we're all hoping for some magic to make it all come together. jack vines
