Jealousy, one of the basest of human behaviors; "I can't have a nice car like that, so I'll hate you for it." Childish shit.

I've seen this crap at 2 different cars shows I've went to about 6-7 yrs ago. Once in Muskogee a kid was caught scratching a car, by the owner. The owner took the kid by the arm and found the parents. The parents had to pay for the paint job.
Another time at Wilburton about 20 -25 Chevelles were keyed while the award ceremony was going on.
This kinda shit makes ya mad.
Hope they find the ass holes that done it.

Im curious to see pics of the damage. I truly think it will help solve this if you can figure out how it was done and by what object.

I've seen Those EZ ups set sail like a kite, those metal frames could really do damage to a car I'd bet. They always make me a little nervous when the wind picks up.[/QUOTE]

This sounds more likely. I would like to see pictures of the damage.
If you were going to key a car in broad daylight with tons of people around you wouldn't do the roof and then make a return trip down the side or vise versa. The roof part is what gets me. Anyone in the world who would even think of keying a car wouldn't want to do a roof. The chances of getting caught keying a roof would be far greater. I still hope someone finds out what happened and if someone is reponsible I hope they are caught.

  9. Someone knows the truth, and its only a matter of time before it comes out. This is one good thing about the interweb, many eyes.
It would be nice to find out that this was an accident, and not deliberate, although the OP is sure its deliberate.

First off I'd like to say thanks to all the hambers on here offering to help with a deductible, hotel rooms for next year, etc. All those offers are appreciated by myself and dad but not necessary. Dad has comprehensive coverage so no deductible to worry about. Second, dad's insurance guy looked at the car and he says definitely vandalism. Take that for what it's worth but regardless of accidental keying or intentional...THEY WALKED AWAY. $3500 in damage and WALKED AWAY. That my friends is gutless and bullshit...period. I too like many of you are surrounded by car guys, guys who work their ass off to build a nice ride, know the difference between accidents and something intentional. I may be wrong, but that does not matter. What matters is there was damage to a car and someone disappears. Again, not trying to stir anyone up, but this has really pissed me off. An adjuster is going to take a look at it too because dad has a specific shop he wants to do the work not on the insurance list...I'll let you know what he says...take that for what its worth as well.

I'm really sorry this happened to you, I hope you were able to salvage something good out of the time despite this. I'm hoping I can find a way to take my dad to this next year, but we are talking a really really long drive, when they get this age time is short

I am always quick to blame man, after all, all of MAN's problems are MAN made. Name ANY other animal on this planet where Evil resides...only in man.....BUT, I have very long arms and still find it hard to reach the middle of the roof to wash a car, (impossible on my truck!) most Caddies are pretty wide. Was the damage right down the center or off to one side, if it was in the center were there foot prints on the roof (could narrow down the suspects with a shoe print) If it was off to the side of the roof, was it on the side that was keyed, or the opposite side? The footprint (leg-print) on a flying carport is going to be pretty wide AND to key/dent the CENTER of the roof would take a lot of force using the underside of your arm witch is an odd angle to generate much force from. So if the damage is on the CENTER (or opposite side of the roof from the side that was keyed) then that WOULD be about the width of the leg-print on a flying carport. If however the damage is on one side of the car, and on that same side of the roof, then some bastard walked down it keying the roof, and back up it keying the side. Where was the damage located exactly?

If that is the car than look to the left in that pic at the two Blue pop-ups, they are at an angle (perfect to catch the wind), they are next to the track (the windiest place due to nothing in the way to stop it AND cars blowing by), AND they look like they are aimed right at it!!! It would still be bullshit that they left, and worthy of a little "private chat" but would make total sense. I mean just look at the pic, Sorry Blue tent guys, but they do look lined right up and leaning that way. Like I said if I saw the damage I would know right off, and so would the insurance dude, if he, in his professional opinion, says asshole, then it was an asshole. Glad that there was no deductible tho! Like I said before...................A guy that keys cars = a hater = tiny dick.

Down the back on the top, along the hatch, all the way down to the passenger quarter. My 10 year old daughter could reach it.

Yeah if you have scratches going at a "T" to one another then that is FOR SURE NOT wind related. STEVE SMASH!!

There wasn't much of a breeze, but a few dust devils did spin up that afternoon. Enough to mess up some picnic tables, sending some paper plates and trash flying, but I didn't see any tents upset. If a tent was sent flying, no doubt a bunch of people would have seen it happen.

OK, if that is the car, I am going to step out on a limb and kinda make a wild guess, there was a flat black 57 plymouth 2 door sedan, very close to that area, 2 guys working on it, they had like minesota tags or something like that, up north somewhere, I did not take a pic of the car as they were having troubles with it, had the hood up and were obvously very angry and not having a good time, so I kinda avoided them, I might be way off base, but I would like to hear from them if they are members, they were right there at that car and like I said they had tools out and they were pissed......hope if they are members I am wrong but just a really wild guess...so please dont jump the gun, just like to hear from them or anyone that knows them might be able to get in touch with them and follow up on it. Here are some pictures. I'm no photographer and my camera sucks, but here they are. The only thing I could not capture were the creases on all the scratches. With that said, I'm not interested in a debate with anyone about how it happend, accidental or intentional. My 55 is in this album too near the end, pay no attention to that. http://www.flickr.com/photos/80093386@N08/

  23. Please tell your father that we are with him. I feel secure in saying true Hamber's wouldn't do this. Some Butt-Munch deserves his ass kicked back to the stone age!!!!!

I hope the person is found so all can handle him in the way they see fit!

I'll throw $50.00 in on this one if it helps!

  25. It has that look like something flew across it, the people who owned whatever it was may not have even known it damaged a car.

  26. You know what? I don't remember what time it was but across the track from where we were set up there was an easy-up that got blown over. IIRC it was a tan colored easy up. I saw some guys setting it back up after it got blown over. I am not sure if it would have been around that car but it would have been on the correct side of the track.....

That is a beautiful Cad and I enjoyed seeing your 55 hardtop pics too!

Regardless of any guilty parties, I really just hope the damage to the Cad gets repaired properly. The worst thing about auto damage is getting a good repair, colormatch, smooth straight finish and no overspray. Hope that goes well for your Pop.

Me too, definitely something sliding across it.

  29. If someone did lose a canopy and saw the damage it did... they ain't sayin' a thing. They should have made an attempt to contact the owner and at least offer to cover his insurance deductible.
