This would be a cool ride to build.

Anybody want to take a stab at what my project could look like when finished? Here is the build thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339315&highlight=roofus

It is going to be a jaguar powered boat tail racer that started out as the roof of a 54 Cadillac. ...and is being skinned with other roof, door skins, and hoods.

Feel free to tweak anything you feel needs to be tweaked.

    Here is the latest mock-up

  3. Well, as it´s sort of a Jag, I´d go for a fenderless XK120 look, starting with the grille (which I´m sure someone repops, though the scale of it may not be quite right). The rest just falls into place.

This is my '47 Olds coupe. I have teardrop skirts for it, along with an ancient set of dummy spots and a pair of single bar flipper hubcaps for the front.

I'd love to see what the car will look like with those parts installed, along with a late 40's period correct tail dragger stance. Not slammed on the ground, maybe just 2" lower in front and low enough in the rear that the skirts cover all of the wheel but none of the tire.

Not looking to chop it or shave any trim off of it at this time since the old paint is still pretty nice, but if someone wants to do that in Photoshop it'd be fun to see.

Thanks in advance for the people who take time out of their day to do these photoshops for us. I can cut up a picture somewhat but I'm no good at adding things in or getting stance right.

Perfect stance on this Pontiac, that's what I want for my Oldsmobile. Never thought a 4 door of this era would look so good!

OK sooooo, I ended up not buying the '48 pontiac. However, I did buy this '55 off of another club member...I'm trying to decide on Watson style seaweed flames or scallops on the body and roof....in white. Any help is much appreciated!

    How about this:
Shave, two-tone, '57 Buick Wheel covers and white whites. Done.

Perfect! And I don't think the car needs a thing beyond these touches, either. Thanks James D!

  16. Glad you like it. It´s such a nice car, it really doesn´t need much changing.

    Cool, thanks !

I've got a dark green interior I'm gonna put in it, so I think it'll end up beeing dark green with a white top or something like that.
And since the picture was taken I've lowered it about 4" too :)
And I'm kinda tempted to chop it.... but we'll see what I time to do

I'll post a side-by-side comparison shot once I get this done, which hopefully won't take long. Should look just like the picture.

  25. It was fun. I thought the car looked better with a kinda Vanilla White than a Bright White.
