If you watch the special features of the movie where the Director, Richard C. Sarafian narrates Vanishing Point (1971), he says they basically wrecked all the cars in the movie with the hard abuse and that near the end of filming they were taking parts off the other cars to keep the last one running.

Another website says the same for the Vanishing Point (1971 movie) 1970 Challengers - no longer exist. Probably liability as well as the cars were on loan from Chrysler.

By all means, if you have the DVD, watch the European version (it has both) and watch it with the directors commentary on. The European version includes the scenes with Charlotte Rampling which were cut from the US version.

The Vanishing Point "Challenger" meets it's doom [The Loan Cars were probably returned to Chrysler ]

It was, even back then they had enough sense to save the Challenger, and wreck a POS Camaro instead.

The Edsel, Henry J and the station have been gone for a long time. I remember the cars sitting there. Can't remember who used to run the Henry J though.
