The roof set back on. Everything measures out perfect. Next we are making the relief cuts to get things to line up. But first... Dinner

It's nice to see this one underway. Do I remember that there was a Harper manifold in the wings for the six? Will it be used?

  11. Nope the Harper intake won't be used on this car. Ed told me the engine set up was completely stock. So that means Mopar silver engine and a nice clean factory look under the hood. It's funny that except for the body modifications and interior it is mostly a stock restoration in the car.

Yay! Looking forward to the rest of this thread!

  14. Took a much needed break last night. Coffee right now and need to wake the other half of the chopping party. Like 235kid said, we need to work on the driver side a-pillar and then it is on to the back. Pictures to come.

Got the front squared away and the back in place and tacked. Calling it a weekend. Back to work and we will resume in a few weeks.

Still need to fab up the extension for the bottom of the C pillar, finish weld all the pillars, open up the rear window opening approximately 3 inches and rebuild the window flange to the correct shape.

  17. Like Pete said. Got a lot done this past weekend. Needs a bit more work to be perfect, but it's close. I need to make a list of what else needs to be done. Will be revisiting the car possibly this weekend. Hopefully the trip to Arkansas doesn't take up my whole weekend.

On the early mopars you could remove the lower arm spring plate from "above" the lower arm and re-attach it "under" the arm for roughly a 3 1/2 drop...as a gent from here told me he did on his mopar.
De-arc the rear springs or use blocks for the rear axle...I don't know how much of a chop the proposed car had, but I hope this helps.
Think I have the linc on my subscribed list...

I back tracked thru the posts and didn't find anything on the harper intake...never heard of one...could you tell me what it is...multi carb?
...I thought I knew my mopar flathead 6 stuff....?

..edit, found a pic of one on the aarc...of all places. Cool looking, wonder if it could be adapted to a 25" chrysler motor though instead of the 23"...looks like it should.

Hey, it took me some time to find and read All 15 pages! But i love the built! Looking so cool.

I see the point with the dip In the rear window, that is the only thing I would try to change. But real good work on your half.

    Choppy choppy choppy!

Working on the chop and possibly the taillights today

  28. It has been awhile since the car has been worked on. Started a new job and was attending school(thank you Texas citizens) and had very little time to do anything.

Well today not a lot was done, but enough to tie me over till maybe next weekend. We revisited the chop we had previously done and did some extra sleuthing to make sure we were happy with the chop. We got some poster board and made some cut outs of the side window opening and the wind shield. I have to say I am pretty darn happy. I have a 1/16th difference from side to side. And we believe it is the pass. C-Pillar throwing it off. After the measurements we tackled the rear glass opening. After the chop the opening from the bottom to top was about 15". Well the opening is no a hefty 18.5" You can see the new opening vs. the opening if a picture a few posts above. We got it clamped in and tacked. The next project is the sides of the roof to the c-pillar. I need to a few tools that Pete has so until he can make a visit I will hopefully be working on the taillights next weekend.

    Enjoy the pictures!!

And as always thanks to Pete for helping out.

  29. Congrats on the new job!

I'm excited to see this one back under-way as I think you've chosen a great looking car to build a tribute to. Watching with interest!

A few more pics from today. It was a short work day but all suspicions are now gone and we know the chop it right. We can both finally sleep!! Haha

The back window was a test of our detective skills and patience, but after studying the pictures of the original car we hatched a plan and put it to action. I think it is going to come out great.

    The window opening trimmed completely

And finally the upper window edge tacked in place. Next time we will be building the outer window edges.
