  1. You all need to get a hobby.

  2. The Hamb just wouldn't be as much fun if not for the good natured banter of Beano! HRP

A toast to 36-3window! Happy Birthd...Anniver...........Happy Post Day!!!

Just a few thousand folks sittin' around, shootin' the breeze about old hot rods. A little tech, a little build thread, a little art, a few models, some humor, a couple of arguments, everybody makes up, pics from Bonneville, somebody finds a primo '33 Ford 3W. Somebody needs help, and a bunch of good people help. Somebody dies and we all grieve. Somebody's born and we all celebrate. Damn. And I mean "damn" in the best possible way.

  17. Well lets see, I haven't really been keeping score, but it seems like some of you are. I am surprised that no one is gettin' 'em out and measuring. I still have a micrometer.

But lets keep score, since I joined the HAMB I have finished 3 drivers for me, and 4 four other people, two of them major show winners. I have helped another HAMBer get his first flathead running and helped change the engine in another HAMBers truck 6 or 7 times, as well as help him build his first car from the ground up.

I am probably as close to being a shut in as anyone these days, since I became crippled in '03 my main contact with the outside world has been the HAMB. The last two years have been the worse of all of them. Do I have a life, absolutely not, I think that a lot of you will find that a broken down old mechanic is not of much value to the world. Maybe you won't ever find that out I certainly hope that you don't.

Last year I spent the 5 days before the HAMB drags swapping the engine in a friends roadster. It was a pretty easy swap, but it needed a proper set of headers, we built them from a 5 dollar set of swap meet headers, they are not perfect but now he knows that he can buy U bends and build his own headers. His car went from a mid 14 second car to a high 12 second car. I spent the next week in bed.

I did get out once this year, I spent the weekend in joplin, with a little tunning we are able to get the fella that got the different engine last year down to the mid 12s @ 108. That isn't real fast as fast goes and the fella was still a little disappointed. I guess that he still doesn't understand that 12 seconds @ 108 is pretty damned fast for 5" wide 40 year old rock hard truck tires.

No I don't get out much, I got no where to go and nothin' to do when I get there.

Should you feel sorry for me? Absolutely not, I don't feel sorry for me why should you. I didn't write this so that you would feel sorry for me or to make you think that I am doing quite a bit for a cripple. This is just the kindest way I can think of to tell you to kiss my rebel dick.

I am very grateful for those who post a lot, the HAMB is #1 source for information for me, and it is only because of those who share their knowledge...so thank you!

  20. 36-3window,
A public appology. Sorry for the drama on your thread friend.
A decade on the HAMB and never banned is a pretty good deal.

36-3 window and beaner, keep em coming, I always enjoy your comments and help. Beaner, I always wondered if you were retired because you're on so many threads, now I know and I think it is great that the internet is allowing you to stay in the game. Look forward to your next 20,000 posts!

Beer? Did someone say Beer? I'm in. Beer and Beaners philosphy. That's why I enjoy this site so much. Oh, and then there are the cars.

  23. Well a lot of my posts are just BS and I know that they are. If you were in the garage with me it would be the same. I help when I can, it keeps my mind working. I tried TV, but I discovered that I was getting like people in a nursing home and Springer was just ignoring me anyway. :D

I used to work with a fella that called it the world according to benno, it was somewhere between Zippy the Pinhead and Far Side. :D:D:D

As I stand in the corner and sip on my drink I can listen to the banter going back and forth from members like porknbeaner and the other members that have been here a long time and it's like listening to the heartbeat of our hobby. ... deep thoughts from......:D but seriously beaner and the others are a depth of knowledge on many things that have helped me along on my cars. many thanks

As another who has a real low post count but has also been here forever ..... I heartily agree. Well said. We need the heavy posters. A lot of knowledge would never get shared if left up to guys like me; not that I personally have a lot of knowledge to share but you get my meaning.

Well I have been here a while and when I have anything to add I do but most here are a lot quicker and a lot smarter than me. So I try to learn new things all the time. I sometimes do not even log in but I am here everyday.

Man , don't be pissing Beanno off. I enjoy every post he has done in my time .
When you have people like Beanno , Squirrel, & a bunch more guys it hard to beat them . I don't worry bout my post count & really enjoy the H.A.M.B.(learn)
OH YEAH .....THANXZ FOR THE POST.

  30. Post count is just numbers, a lot of you fellas are just asleep, you know and know not that you know, when fellas like the Squirrel are dead and gone you will have waked up and then you will become the driving force.

I have to say this if anyone deserves any type of thanks it is The Boss. He puts up with goof balls like me and the HAMB is his brain child. Every once in a while I see someone wanting to go to hot rod school, this is Hot Rod U fellas and we have The Boss to thank for it. If it were not for him and the moderators we would all still be working alone.
