Dave! It's Steve from Cape Breton...the guy who got all giddy over your car and asked to sit in it! Just wanted to chime in here....I just drove 14 hours back home from Bangor today. Your car was way awesome in person!! For anybody who's nearby and hasn't yet seen it in person, it's %110 worth a look. Pictures can only do it so much justice. That whole event was really inspiring for me...I've never seen anything like that before. I'll add some pics of me being a poser behind the wheel...soon! Keep in touch. Steve
Dave It was great to meet you and see your car in person. We enjoyed the drive by rodeo and took a ride on the school bus. Steve from Amesbury.
Hey Steve was nice to meet ya, glad you got back safe. Thanks for the kind words Jake is defintley cool i am a lucky guy. I was happy to let you sit in it and take a pic, i used to be your age and know how you felt. Post the pics would be glad to see them and glad you enjoyed yourself thats what its all about. 32Hudson Steve it was nice to meet you aswell. The rodeo was cool everyone was great, I didnt dare get on that bus lol i`ll tellya why later but had to do with a drunk woman was a great time good seeing you today at New england
I hear there is going to be a new show next year? "1st annual "Hoodlum Camp-out" featuring traditional rods/customs, BBQ cookout/ chow line, mandatory campovers, and must bring a side dish or other food resources...." anybody hear about this one?
I knew you would hold me to it Frank I tell ya I would love to have a Hoodlum Ho down or something with camping hot rods.customs etc just a good ole time, but its a lot of work and to find the right place and get enough people to go. Theres alot of shows now but not many good ones. I gotta tell ya the down east show in maine was about the best all around for all that maybe we`ll just have to go back there and i can see all my pals from maine, canada, and everywhere else
Hi Dave50.Nice find. You got more luck than any 10 people should be allowed to have by law. That Olds sounds GREAT. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
Thanks Woodbutcher i am a lucky guy.. Could happen to anyone just be ready and able when it does. Went to the drags yesterday had a good time gotta take Jake up and se what it will do
Went to a minitruck show years ago...spotted a not so low little Nissan with a collection of road reflectors in front of it. As my friend Danny and I stared at it, the owner piped up, saying something about being low enough to get all of the pile in the last few days. As he walked off, we looked under the truck (lotsa daylight)...not a mark on the undercarriage of the truck. They may have come from the road, but not from any damage inflicted by the nose bleed section.
LOL I sure will it was a hoot.are you going to fitchburg airport for thr drag reunion?? WTF are you talking about?? Itys late i am beat and i cant think of anything that what you posted relates to my thread....
Ya fan club....... I guess haters FNG and jeolous fuckers i guess the Hamb is ah changing. Pat me too its funny but frustrating really sitting here behind a computer you dont really know how someone is coming off so i just let it roll off most times... you coming to the Orange drag reunion sept 8th??
Dave, what I think we should all take away from this, is that your Deuce will not fit in at a minitruck show...
Good point glad he spelled it out for me and these street rod shows i been going to i been getting shunned aswell, with comments of when ya going to paint it and its to loud you drive that like that?? Got pulled over the other night for doing 47 in a 30 i coulda swore it was a 45 my bad but i was the 4th car in line and the loudest cop started off as a prick so i had to set him straight then he came around no ticket but he also understood what i was saying when i spoke to him I guess i am going to have to build my own sandbox and play in cause i just cant seem to play well with others . My biggest issue is these posers who show up to a car show with new cars trucks etc and want to be part of the show when it clearly states its PRE 60 72 etc and they get pissy when you explain this show isnt for them and then they want to argue about it ,it`s like wtf! You try to make a sand box for you and yours and every clown with a car wants to come play. Ik i am being a little harsh but i dont play tennis or go there because its not my thing and i dont go there to try and fit in or change it. If i go somewhere I respect that it is there sandbox if i dont like it i dont go. Look at this picture and see what a friday night shows has turned into it was a cool place to go and would still be if they divided up the cars its just my opinion and it wont get done IK that. Again there sandbox and now i don`t go and many others don`t aswell cause of what it`s turned into. But they get there late model corvettes,miata`s,viper`s,trans-ams camaros, mustangs etc car shows started out with pre-72 now most places let in these cars wtf a 85 honda a caddliac cimmaron... Ik there are special shows for what i like and thats what and who i will support. Enough of my ranting its just getting old listieng to a guy come post crap on someonelses thread on a sight that is about Hot Rods The Jalopy Journal was formed to spread the gospel of traditional Hot Rods and Kustoms to hoodlums worldwide… We wanted to be the voice of the working man, a tool in the toolbox of the guy that does it himself. Hot rodding is a religion and way of life to some and that`s what most people have felt and lived by on here for a long time but with anything change comes and goes I just wish the mini truck,vw,streetrod type wouldnt come in here and try to make the site whats it`s not and piss on a guy who got lucky once in his life. Theres a couple old sayings If you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything... and Never assume anything about someone unless you`ve walked in there shoes. I try to abide by these I am not here to have a pissing contest with some putz i don`t know and will never know. I want to come here and meet some cool cats and enjoy Hot Rods. Man to much coffee and to many posers getting under my skin hope i dont get banned...
I hear you loud and clear Dave. It's getting to be the same all over, with late model cars trying to get into early shows, and people getting pissy when they are excluded. It's a symptom of our society I think. I try to support many of the 'true' hotrod shows that I can, the ones that cater to, and limit themselves to, traditionally styled/built hotrods. All the other shows, you just need to roll with the punches and shrug it off Sometimes you need to vent. Take solace in the fact that you have one bitchin' hotrod!
How about a traditional rod/custom tour? pre-register to make sure of the entries. Back roads with planned stops at a few places. I want to do one at the RI coastline someday.
I think this should be in the planning stages for the next two years or so... Just to give me time to get done with mine so I can drive over.
You should travel down this way, lots of cool cars around New England, and stuff to see, even if Dave can't find them. I'm not kidding, I need to cruise the beach strips again. Can't bring back the old days, but I will remember plenty when I am there.
One of these days I will Frank. Most of my family is from Nova Scotia, so it wouldn't be too hard for me to justify driving out that way, and then coming down the coast. I would just love to do it in a hotrod, instead of my daily driver.
Frank and speedy all good ideas I will support them any way i can. Frank you need to get that thing road worthy for ALTERBOYS! The traditional area is full of all cool stuff heck with just the club members cars theres enough cool stuff to enjoy the day! And then the customs that show up are bitchin aswell. It all goes back to picking and choosing the shows to go to and enjoy them! So make sure you support the show that try and put on what you want to see.
