i want to make my truck have a roll down rear window, i have never seen it before and looks like a rare option do any of you guys have any pictures? possible of the inner workings. did they have problems with letting water into the cab?, i wonder how well it seals off. I was thinking of grafting a door onto the back so it would roll and have the proper weather stripping. any ideas??
I found another thread on here about it, but there really isnt any details on how it drains,. you must have to drill drain holes on the sheet metal below the window
I think they came on rumble seat coupes. If the windshield opened too you had some cool ventilation for hot summer days. You could get some gl*** cut and use any kind of windup mechanism you like, including electric. Also, make some kind of drain pan to drain off any leakage under the car. Like a pan with a pipe thru the floor.
I don't think any A's had roll down back windows, I do know they had them in '32 but not pickups. No reason you couldn't make your own though, just like the door gl***. Weld in a small V under the window and tracks to catch moisture, cap the ends, and install a drain tube to the bottom.
These guys sell roll down window parts for "A" coupes. There might be something there that will work on your PU. http://www.brattons.com/prodtype.asp?cookiecheck=yes&PT_ID=86
the coupes used a roll down set up. if you use a original set up you will loose some room for the seat to set back in.The coupe roll down set up went behind the package tray
Inserting just what you need from a door window ***embly sounds like a good plan if cheaper than used / repop units. That would probably require some sort box to hide / protect the gl***, channels and regulator, hold the crank handle, and collect / drain water just like a door does. The smaller the window (chop top?), the shallower the enclosure, too. Gary
No bigger than a back window in a pickup is, you wouldn't really need a roll up mechanism. You could just adapt some kind of lever setup whereby you can raise it up and lock it into place or let it down to bottom out in a drain rail. Not much room at all behind you in a pickup cab.
I learned something new! Good to know some were made. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
