sounds good! now find a forum that talks about muscle cars, and you'll be all set. We do older stuff here, sorry.
Don't think so. 396 came out in 65. Far as I know, 409 was the "rat" motor back then as far as Chevy goes anyway.
Get over it we are still not a muscle car site. Now as for the winning combo, it will run fine, don't know how long and it will probably not run on anything that you can buy at the service station in Calif. or anywhere else in the united states.
The big cam may help to tame the high compression a little bit. IE, static compression is pretty high, but dynamic compression including valve overlap, etc. will be lower. So premium 93 or 94 octane might work.
Valve Lift: .504 Int. / .498 Exh. I think that is a high lift cam for a '69 350. In any case I would check valve clearance because you get 11.5:1 by having domed pistons.
I was mostly referring to the duration. Seems like a good amount of overlap, which would bleed off cylinder pressure and help avoid detonation. A relatively high-rpm cam.
