Some of you might remember, the little engine in my Model A let go on the way back from the HAMB Drags. She broke the crankshaft about 10 miles outside of town, but banged all the way home anyway. (she loves me.) I dug another crank out of the pile and sent it off to teh machine shop and had the block honed while I was at it. Oh man...was that thing ready for a refresh... 80K miles of hard street use and a shit load of dragstrip passes, it was definately time. Here she is running again..drove her to work today and all is right with the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTxMdMic7rA See ya, -Abone. PS. Best HAMB Drags ever.
You mean the "World Dominating Pontiac Engine Of Doom?" Oh yes...still doing that, but not untill the car comes completely apart next winter. -Abone.
Great to see the bone alive and healthy again! Just something special about knowing it's the same engine that treated you right all along. Not saying to give up on the idea of something Mc Nasty, but just good to have an old friend back in action like that. Thanks for taking the time to share the good news and vid!
no wasting time. I know you do not like driving anything but that ol Abone but damn.. that was fast.. how did the rest of the motor look when you took it apart or did you just drop the bottom (left the heads on)
Man, machine shops around here sure aren't that fast, nice to see you didn't waste any time letting the model A set.
Cool. Those cast 400 cranks scare me. That's why I only use early 389 steel cranks. Hey, how did the cam/lifters look? Do you use any zink additive like ZZDP in the oil? Did the crank break at the front...maybe a result of the blower drive hanging out there? Wish I could have made it to the drags this year, if for no other reason than to see if you could better your 10.98 time...
Man I can't even get the engine for my O/T truck painted and re-gasketed in the time you rebuild a broke engine! I am envious!! Sounds good. See ya and the A at lunch homey.
Remember this is the guy who drags a roof out of a creek bed and a couple months later it's shiny black with a poncho in it. Childs play.
