  1. Well the lincoln is a bomb. I like that style lincoln but it would depend on what is wrong with the Lincoln for me. I would no doubt get more use from the truck and it would be cheaper to build.

  2. That is a Classic Lincoln I would Not trade for truck
if you would like to know the Lincoln is worth More than the
    Truck
you should join the L.C.O.C and will find all the Parts
    for your Lincoln
look how much fun you can have in the Back seat!

    just my 3.5 cents

Coming from a guy with a '51 Chevy truck and an OT '76 Lincoln in his stable ... that's a tough call. They're way different animals. IMHO, it boils down to the work they each need and what you're capable of doing and/or paying someone else to do.

unless i knew something was drastically wrong the lincoln gets my vote. a couple of rattle cans and it will look as clean as the truck i bet. the truck is definately easier to get parts for though

Realistically, if you have one child who's going to grow and who knows how many more may appear keep the more door. After all, Lincolns are more rare (valuable), everyone has or can find a truck, and Lincolns are just large, lower trucks!

Tuff one. Trucks are common and don't make good customs. No one ever built a real custom or hot rods out of a truck in the day. Trucks started being built in the 70's but that is not the time periods of this webforum. Some people built pretty nice 60's customs out of 4 door hardtops in the days. I think the Lincoln is more "legit" as a canidate for a build. The truck would be nice and look cool, and you can always use a truck. Trucks also ride like trucks, unless you bag them which = lots of $. Lincoln already rides nice and you don't even have to lower it. Bellflowers, Astro Supremes, Pinner whites. Custom paint, and a laced roof and your done. The truck is going to need all that and air bags, then you can only take 3 people at a time max. Lincoln fits 5-6 comfortably. Just sayin.

I'd stick with the Lincoln. You bump into quite a few '58-'59s at every show but not a lot of those Lincolns. Plus I dig it.. I think I may have a crush on your Lincoln.

To me it depends a lot on what you want long term. Do you want to keep it or flip it. The trucks easier and cheaper to fix and flip. Tons of parts out there. Belly button motor/tranny combo. Assuming it's not a bondo buggy, it should clean up faster than the Batmobile.

To me the Lincoln's a long term project. Unless, as some suggest, this is just a rattel can rat, it's gonna take more time, money and a lot of scrounging to make it shine. Sure would be different...but the cost of different is pretty high. Hell the cost of a new interior alone would cost as much as the PU. Anybody check on the cost to rebuild a 368 cubic-inch V8? Dee-pends on what you want.

I'm having a very tough time with this, I just can't see being able to ever sell the lincoln for as much as the truck if I need too. I just like having an option in my pocket, not saying I'm doing any of this for money.. but thats just what I see.

I love my lincoln and have a lot of time and energy in it.. both vehicles are drivers, I've never had to think so hard on a car deal.

I'm a huge fan of the canted quad Lincolns, but I really feel like that truck is worth more money from a resale standpoint, unless it has no engine or title or something.

Maybe it's different around my area, but Chevy/GMC trucks of that era in nice, solid shape bring $5K pretty easily around here, where as you'd have a hard time getting more than $2K for that Lincoln in the shape it's in.

Again, I really like the Lincoln, but I don't see where everyone thinks it's so valuable. There is a super extra nice original one (a '59 I think) for sale on my local Craigslist for $6500 that hasn't had any takers all summer. And it'd take $20K worth of paint, chrome, and interior to make yours as nice as it is.

    Food for thought.

I must recuse myself - I just love Chev/GMC shorty stepsides. Soft spot for those big Lincs, but the truck wins every time.

the lincoln has a 400 ford engine out of a 1977 ltd, so its all pretty modern under the hood.
Also I just need carpet and a headliner to finish out the interior, I also have all of the trim for it... so its not a question of time I guess.
I just really need opinions from other real car guys.. my friends and family are no help. ha ha

Do you like to block sand body work, or do you LOVE to block sand body work? One of the two vehicles could be done in your lifetime. Bob

If you have all the trim for the exterior, and only have limited things to do with the interior I would say keep the Lincoln.
