Hey people, greetings again, and I really do need some help on this one. I have the 50 ford custom and the back seats are totally shot. I mean to the point that if I were to clean them with a pressure washer all I would have is rust to put in the flower bed lol. Really, can anyone maybe do some investigating and tell me what seats may interchange for this car. I have spent serious hours on line and can not come up with an answer. Could go with buckets in front but would really like to keep bench seats. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I'd start by taking measurments to see what you have for dimensions available( with, depth, etc.) when I was looking for my 47 front seat, was a lot of measuring defferent seats at swap meets. good luck
take what you have and get them sandblasted. I'd be suprised if a car seat was so rusted that it could not be reused.
Yea I can't imagine it is a lost cause. Seat springs can be swapped as long as the frame isn't wrecked. Plus there is plenty of shoeboxes around, join a street rod forum and look for someone pulling there bench to put in buckets. I he a complete interior from a '50 ford that was redone in the mid 90's that a local fella pulled to put in buckets and leather, you may get similarly lucky Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
The wrap around back seats from early 60's T-birds fit right in with a little work. They look better with the matching front buckets though IMO. All depends on the style of build your doing. Here's some more info http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=627771
I don't know if the 50 Ford and 49 Merc. share the same inside measurements but on my 49 Merc. an 80 Chev Malibu fit almost perfectly.
yep and my first thought was 1950 FORD seats. There are bound to be at least some good seat frames remaining in wrecking yards right here at home.
your ride a 2 or 4 door? '63 or older four passenger rear seats fit good, buckets in front. '64-'66 Bird seats will fit too. search here for Shoebox Ford Threads too. as others have said take measurements & pictures of existing interior and floor pan with you and hit wrecking yards that have older cars. seats will need something that will clear the drive shaft hump. I have attached a picture that I recently took of an interior of a '51 Ford - do not know what seats came out of but, may give you something to look for.
