I am a guy who loves wheels and horse power creating machines. I love bikes ( every brand ,if yer knees are inda breeze, good for you),cars,trucks,big-trucks and big ass locomotives!
I've been riding for about thirty-five years and remember a day when there weren't near as many bikes on the road.I remember when, coming at another rider, we threw a fist in the air, as if to say "yes! we know something they don't". That was when you stopped to help a stranded rider, or any driver.
Now the world is flooded with "credit card bikers" that try to out chrome each other, out 'fat tire' each other but , have never turned a wrench. I am so tired of everyone pointing at the ground, thinking it's cool, I just ride with a smile and an occasional head nod. Hell, if I waved to every bike out there, I'd have one Popeye forearm!!
(it's like waving at every pickup on my way to work in my pickup??)
    yea, I know, who cares.............

short answer, bikers & hotrodders have always been kindred spirits........

Elwood59 you are correct. We live on the NW side of Florida in a small town area. Even so, there is no way in hell any biker can wave at every one he meets. Most would probably think you were tryin to pick a fight anyway.
There are still some good bikers and a lot of old Skool bikers around. The rest can barely start their own electric start engines. Same with rodders and custom car owners. They need help getting the hood open unless it's a hoodless car. :)
Like cars at car shows, at bike events the bikes are trailerd wherever they go. If it looks like rain they go back in the trailer or get covered up.
Still there is a time for the wave!

Moto Guzzi, Ducati, BMW, Laverda, KTM, Aprilia, MV Agusta, Benelli, and a few more. There are lots if you really like performance.:eek::eek:

Performance seems to be kind of a dirty word on here...:D. I would restore a first generation Suzuki GSXR750 in a heartbeat.

Yep, and HD had the chance, Buell finally had a world class engine to go in a great handling bike and they killed.

The HD vrod ain't to bad . 1/4' cylinder walls to start with . Do a 1/8 " bore & go racing.

First off they should have let Porsche finish the design. And it's only good in a 1/4 of a mile straight line. Throw a corner in there and it's at a total loss.:eek::eek:

remind me, why is this thread still going - Is it due to a "Traditional" wave?

Interesting thread. The cameraderie is there, and always the appreciation toward a rod.
You guys take me back to hearing Richard Thompson,
as he steps out on stage to sing, '52 Vincent.
"Greeves and Indians and Nortons won't do,
aww, they don't have soul, like a Vincent '52"

whenever i pass another oldcar wether im in one or not i flash the thumbs up most times its recpricated

if i see a really nice painted bike, harley or not at a show i usually take a pic or two of the paint work not the bike

When a harley onwer does that it means watch for falling parts :p
its a respect gesture, harley guys point down w one finger, us sport bikers aren't afraid to get our hand more than 2" from grip and toss a hearty peace sign out .
I guess the hot rod / harley scenirio is due to the excessive noise they make and the outlaw type attitude

I was always told that the two fingers down low, pointed at the ground reffered to keeping both wheels on the road. But then again, I'm no biker...

Should I start a new thread or hi jack this one...

"So I was driving my 52 yesterday and I saw a guy on one of those 3 wheeled can am things give me the miss america wave. What does this mean? Do we share some type of mutual understanding that I'm cool and he is a douche bag?"

Sounds like this thread went from a hand wave to a dick wave. I can't believe it's still open.

You guys are the first I've talked to that can ride that long in one sitting. I've road plenty of sport bikes I can't handle laying on a bike like that. I always have had old 70's standards kaws or suks. Me and my friends do week long rides camping and hotels its a ton of fun.

reaching for the low bars never bothered me, but your pegs are high on a sportbike so your legs are in a crunch. I don't think I bend that way anymore.
