Before I remove and measure the steering linkage u-joints from a project...where can I buy them? Can locate complete steering joints...but can't locate a source for just the mini-u-joints.

Will most likely need a source that has them listed by cap diameter and width.

One that is about 1/4 the size of a driveline u-joint.

Just checked the Borgeson web site..they only sell complete joints...I just need the universal inside them.

  9. These days the question on steering joints should be "who doesn't sell them?"
Last ones a bought from Jeg's (their own brand, made in China)
Pretty good quality, nickle plated and all, but the 9/16-24 splined one was so loose that there was no way I was going to use it.

Nobody is going to sell you just the inner block!

  10. Flaming River also makes them

I'd say the caps are approx 1/2" in diameter and 1-3/4" long? (plus/minus)

If you did find just the universal it would probably be more than half of what a whole new complete joint would be, buy a whole new one?

Just use driveline U joints on your steering shaft. Now that's ratrod! (kidding)

Check with industrial supply houses that service the manufacturing industries.
McMaster Car is one we use that comes to mind.

  22. Good gawd, just buy a real Ujoint unless you are building something unrelated to steering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you need just an universal joint. What is the specific application? Steering for....?

I can understand his need. We welded mine on and caused a problem with the U joint. Your going to have a hard time, as most will not sell you a u joint only (think liability) Now if you can find a really nice sales person, he (or she) might be able to help out. Ask me how I know! Go directly to the maker, not the vendor. Be nice and understand there will be no warranty. Price is almost the cost of the joint, but mine was already welded and this saved having to remake the steering linkage.

  29. I don't think you are going to find anyone who sells the trunion by itself.

Your search may go better if you search for just a u-joint trunnion (w/wo caps), and not a complete u-joint including yokes.
