What is this? A class project to build a float to commemorate the battle between the Merrimack & Monitor? (And why was the photographer wearing a beekeeper's hat?)

I don't know what affect DDT had on humans but one reason it got banned here was the affect it had on egg laying animals like birds,It was found that the DDT was causing the egg shells to not harden and the eggs would break as they were laid,This not only affected wild birds but domestics like chickens, ducks and turkeys. I know that today I see a lot of wild birds that I never saw in my early teens out here, Let's say what was extremely rare in the early 60s is very common today here like vultures and hawks.I was told it also affected animals like turtles and alligators but I don't know that was a fact.

  9. When I was a kid, after dark the yard was full of small toad frogs. Now it's very rare to see one.
