The Nugget is the main place but you can walk from most of the hotels If you want something cheaper.

  3. Go read up at www.landracing.com

You do know there is racing going on? It's not a cruise. ;)

Crusing Wendover seems like not that much fun. There is not that much Wendover to cruise

But; if your into WWII history, they now have setup tour direction signs around the old Air force base.
This was where they trained some of the crews for the bombing of Hiroshima.
It's quite fascinating how big the base was.

If you went to Bonneville when the inspection was at the airport you saw enough airport to hold you. But the Lighting man was cool.

If you go to scta-bni.org on the left is a list. Scroll to Bonneville. It opens a "box" (sorry, I'm not fluent in computerspeak). Scroll to and click on "participants" and that will give you a list of hotels etc in Wendover.

From one end of Wendover to the other (both Utah and Nevada sides) it is about 1.5 miles long. All of the motels or casinos turn speedweek into Bendover. The nightly informal car show is at the Nugget as stated. Nugget is right on the state line.

I slept in Hotel Equinox, back seat one night front seat the rest. Got to see the sun come up while my legs uncramped too.

  11. I had those same accomodations in the back of my pickup!

also, do a search here for threads on what a Bonneville newbie should expect, and what to bring with you. also, dont expect to be able rent a car in Utah for your trip to the Big Salt.

  15. cheers thanks for that, pretty sure they will still be racing on the salt same as last time I was there, but it seems there is a fair bit of hot rodding activity going on in Wendover at nite ? Last time We booked way too late and ended up staying an hour or more away. I guess cruising was the wrong choice of words, More just meant where the Hot rodding activity takes place. where everyone meets up.
Have looked at the websites for accomodation but I still feel like I would get a better responce asking you guys, basically whats good and whats not !!!

I'm always one to help a guy from out of town out so I will let you in on this info. This year when I got in to Wendover I went to the car wash, there was a couple of super size honeys there that told me if I had $50 and a place we could all make it together, So with out hesitation I told them, I have $50 bucks, and I have a place, but you 2 aint coming with me!!
I'm sure they will be there next year, so if you need directions to the car wash just let me know. JC

What are the motels charging for a room during speed week?

How about a compiled list of everything needed for the first time bonneville visitor. Everything for the guy camping in a tent to the guy spending the cash to stay in the hotels there?

when i called to book a room for the races this year in wendover for speed week for 7 days was around $1100. i drove a little ways away about 45mins and stayed 7 days for $300. i can drive a few miles for a grand. either way 1100 or 300 the trip this year was worth the money either way.

Consider camping at the bend, short drive over to the Nugget at night and other Wendover "activities"

We camped near some Aussies who rented RV's. I bet they were nicer than the motels in Wendover, but I haven't a clue what they cost.

  25. Camp WEST of the Bend uphill. the last two years we have been rained out of teh mudflats:(
