Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 31Vicky with a hemi, May 4, 2011.

  1. Im thinking of running radirs with the brakes........ how are the brakes proportioned front to rear ......adjustable valve maybe?....do the fronts have to be turned way down to work properly?

I was unsure of running these because of the brakes, or my percieved view, lack thereof, but after reading this post Im thinking Id like the Radir 12 spokes....Thanks again HAMBers!

is it me, or did the old one's have a more elliptical shape to the spokes? the spokes seem to have a flater look to them.

I just did some brakes using the Hurst/Airheart 150 calipers from Speedway. These are not on the Raider 12 spokes, but they soon will be. Pretty simple deal, and the owner has since plumbed and hooked them up and they work extremely well.

    That caliper bracket is clean!

  10. The new spokes are pretty round towards the center and sort of oval towards the rim. In other words that spoke changes from round to oval. I don't have an old one to look at .

I used them on 'Old Bones' and i had a hell'uva time getting them for the anglia spindle, they kept promissing me a set but it took 11mos befor i saw them. The wheels are very nice, just get a popular combination.
I also waited 8 months for the whitewall piecrust slicks, Radir people were nice enough to talk to but i got sick and tired of excuses.

the "regurgitator", just cut and paste. you could be asking "how do i keep my valve covers from leaking", and get the same answer.

I'm determining my requirements to use a 18x3 Radir 12 spoke spindle mount with my existing brakes and rotors.

Here is a Pete and Jakes exploded view of a spindle mount with brakes.

    I'm looking for component #17.

Mat Thrasher states on this thread that he fabricated this "hat". I agree with him on that I'm not real big on what's offered for spindle mount brakes.

    Here is my current configuration:

Diagram to help identify type of spindle you have.

Here's some pictures of the fabricated hat and caliper bracket. Full size brakes for 12 spoke spindle mounts.

:DI had a pair of American Racing 12 spokes on my '27 roadster project when I bought it.
I searched for some brakes to fit, however I never found any that would fit. There is not enough meat in the hub area to bolt anything to. So I removed them and just moved on, as I don't like the idea of running no brakes on the front. I made it to age 70 in spite of some dumb choices, however, this will not be one of them.

carry on then...as the years just fly by....

  27. Think your trick can be pulled off on these?

I just wonder about the leverage applied thru the tiny bolts into the bearing race boss edges. On the radirs too.

That pics looks like there not much to the hub.

The Radirs have a fairly large thick hub. The Radirs are a heavy wheel.

Buell perimeter brakes fit a 17" wheel so tig or bolt some tabs on and fabricate a caliper mount.

I am in the process of mounting the Wintec Fabrication brakes and 12 Radir 12 spokes. As I was spinning them, I noticed the wobble in the wheels? What is acceptable? Looks like almost an .125 in one. But I want know for sure until I buy a dial caliper and base on the way home today to check how much. Will be calling both company's today, just checking to see everybody else has noticed in there. Also the new tires which are coker 3.60-18 looks like they have a flat spot in them when I spin them. It sucks pay all this money and all, these issues. I have not drove car yet and the tires have not been on the rims for about 2 weeks only.
