Rear end treatment of Aussie Holden bodied 1940 sedan - note use of 1939 Overland beltline tail lights. Rare 1937 Willys roadster ute with Hope Bodybuilders body to the left of this car....

I shot some pictures of this truck and it was sweet. I will have to find them to post.

  14. Weasel,
In your picture #3185 ('38 sedan), looking for your expertise on a mystery for me over the years. I have 3, 37-38 hood ornaments (plastic tops are long gone) and they all have a singular base, and not the split arch shown in your photo.
I do have however, a couple of broken bases that were the arch type (bolt holes were a little different. My question is, how long did they make that style, and when did they switch to the singular type. The arch type really showed the stainless hood strip, but the ones I have in tact, go over and cover the stainless strip. Also, what did they have on the top of them that never lasted?

Do you know if this car ever ran a Blown Hilborn Desoto Hemi? I was told when I got my engine it was from a Willys gasser called the arusso or Airoso Bros.(sp) car. The engine came from a pretty reliable person.

  28. For those who might be into Willys factory lore.... here's a historical piece on the 1941 Willys Americar I originally wrote back in 1998 for AutoWeek magazine. Recently I revised it a bit, added more photos, and posted it online. Maybe there are some facts and images you haven't seen before. Hope folks enjoy it.

Another look at the 1941 Willys Americar | Mac's Motor City Garage

    Thanks!

I wouldn't doubt they ran through quite a few engine types through the years. I think it had a Chrysler Hemi later on. I found one pic that said they were running a blown 327. Either way I'm happy just trying to confirm what I was told.
