Yippy ! Good luck. You practically live in Shitcargo! Lots of campgrounds near you. Member goin to Indaina Dunes when those things were new. Sent from right here on a home computer via satellite.
Great choice. The trailer redo by the guy who built that fabulous 36 roadster sedan is a great look at those early trailers.
Busy day yesturday, gutted the whole inside all the way to the floor, and side walls. Now going to strip the paint, and strip the side walls. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I have one that is almost ready and we're neighbors! I replaced 4 outside panels, 2 interior birch panels, stripped the roof and resealed, built a replacement door, removed, straightened, and polished all the trim and windows. It is just about ready but after all that I am too tired to go camping!!!!
I've looked at several campers in the past couple of years but haven't found the right one,,someday,, HRP
Few miles outside of New Buffalo, Michigan but on the "good" side of the state line! How about you? Johnson's Surplus is a good source for anything RV related and there is a wood working supply in South Bend, IN that you can get the 1/8" birch for you interior.
Is that 'Shipshiwanna" Flea Mkt and the RV place still up there? The only good side of the state lines up there are Illinois !!!!!!!!!!
I just seen your pics and noticed HWY12 Speed in a few of them. I am about 4 or 5 miles from Rocky's shop.
Yes, Shipshiwanna is still there and there are a bucket full of RV places all over that area. It is a about 40 or 50 minutes from where I live.
Im west of valpo, crown point area. The HWY12 pic is when we went up to redemaks and stopped by there on the way home.
Picked up a 1961 12' Nomad 2 weeks before Bonneville, thrashed on it and towed it there and stayed in it. Still needs some work, but it will get done.
We are! We are! Here's our 63 Airstream globetrotter. Still in polishing mode. And a 68 Scotty we bought for my 16yr old son to re-do for himself. And a 66 Scotty bump-top my buddy just bought this past week..
Those campers bring back some memories. For now I will have to use a tent, but atleast I have a camp stove. Rod
Here's a couple of photos of our 1970 Scotty at the RT 66 car show in Flagstaff Az behind out 1957 chevy Pick up. Lots of fun.
Cool trailer! I just picked up this 58 Aljo for 100.00 Needs everything, but I think it will be worth it.
Don't get me started on camp stoves..... Here's a very large 1934 vintage Primus stove on full chat. Takes 5 pints of paraffin. Will boil a pint of water in just over 2 minutes. Beer bottle included for scale. It was unused for decades and unusable as of a few days ago. A long soak in citric acid solution, a good clean and polish plus changing all the seals including the NRV, pump washer and jet and it's going like a good'un. Well, it gave me something to do and it's traditional ;-) "Brass is class but propane gas is ass" ..... as we say in the stovie world. Sorry for rubbishy phone pics....
Nice Trailers and very cool stoves! I have to find a "classic" stove, my modern primus is way to quiet Would say i'm too young for a trailer. I love to bivouac... with car, or bike, or both
While cleaning out some of the old buildings out at the farm we found a really early Coleman hotplate also. I will get pic's of it when I have a chance. Rod
I've had my eye on a MobilScout for the last few years. I guess I ought to step up since it isn't getting any better sitting in the weather.
My wife has several old coleman stoves. She just recently found a 3 burner from the early 70s still in original box. She collects all that kinda stuff. Its fun to take a old car and camper camping, and use all vintage stoves and accessories.
I agree. Grandma put this one in the stuff to sell, so likely will end up in an antuique shop or on e-bay depending on afew factors. Rod
